Weekend Shift (Fri-Sun 6:00 am-6:00 pm)

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Operations Manager and/or the On-Site Lead Person, the Industrial Lift Truck Operator is responsible for the operation of material handling vehicles to and from designated warehouse areas to retrieve and store customer product. Industrial trucks include pallet jacks, forklifts, and standup reach trucks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Operator must have completed initial Forklift Operation training and be evaluated on each model lift truck they will be required to operate and any attachments used with the lift truck. An evaluation of each industrial lift truck operator must occur at least once every three years.
  • Performs a pre-operational daily inspection on the fork lift they will be using and submits a written report to the lead person. Reports all needed repairs to supervision.
  • Regular attendance and timeliness are an expectation.
  • Job assignments / hours are subject to change to meet business and customer demands. Must be able to work any shift, overtime, and weekends as needed.
  • Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to determine product / material needed to complete the order.
  • Loads proper quantities of damage-free product in a safe manner, distributing the weight of the product in a proper manner.
  • Removes all damaged or defective goods before loading. Places damaged / defective goods in a location where they will be reworked.
  • Has proficient knowledge of all finished product to facilitate a proper rotation of stock using the FIFO (First In First Out) method.
  • Operates lift truck to stack and/or tier product / materials.
  • Unloads product / materials as directed while visually inspecting for damaged and defective materials. Any damaged / defective products / materials shall be removed to a location where they will be reworked or properly disposed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Continued):

  • Physically verify each unit on the load for product, the quantity of each product, weight of the product, and the description of product when unloading a truck and completing the receiver for the shipment. This requires attention to detail to recognize difference in products, weights, pallets. For example: piece count, bag weights, unit weights, etc.
  • Completes all required paperwork; such as, receivers, bills of lading, daily tracking sheets, etc.
  • Maintains high level of sanitation with practicing clean as you go method. Adhere to GMP (General Manufacturing Practices) training.
  • Performs all job duties in a safe manner, abiding by all company and customer safety policies and procedures.

Additional Duties:

  • Performs cycle counts of inventory.
  • Fill pick and pack orders.
  • Load, unload, and operate the baler.
  • Perform product assembly, when required.
  • Additional daily duties as assigned by on-site lead person / manager.

Davenport Warehouse Locations Duties:

  • Operates RF Scanning System to control inventory of product in/out of warehouse.
  • Locate product bin location and scan products to correct bin when unloading.
  • Record number of truckloads, units handled and moved, using daily tracking sheets.
  • Creates case pick pallets/loads of mixed product as needed.
  • Capable of adjusting weights on over weights in trailers as needed.
  • Keeps work areas clean and in orderly condition according to food safety standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience

  • 2 years prior forklift experience.
  • Slip Sheet operation experience preferred.
  • Possess basic computer, reading, and math skills.
  • Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected changes or modifications of daily work activity.
  • Ability to perform multiple job duties as assigned.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a team environment.
  • Must obtain a Clausen Supply Company forklift license.

Language Skills

Possess the ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos; to complete daily inspection sheets, to complete daily tracking sheets, to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

Worker has the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instruction; and to deal with problems that involve a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

  • Lift limit of 50 lbs. from floor to waist on occasional basis.
  • Any lifting over 50 lbs. requires assistance.
  • Safely lift 40 lbs. overhead on an occasional basis.
  • Sit consistently for 3 hours at a time.
  • Ability to kneel, crawl, stoop, climb a ladder, push and pull, and climb stairs.
  • The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Good hand strengths that do not have population normative deficits.
  • Good balance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Lifting limits are determined by National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Standards. Occasional means up to 33% of workday. Grip strengths are determined by Mathowitz strength analysis.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to noise and varying degrees of temperature. The employee must wear required protective or safety equipment, such as, safety glasses, goggles, safety shoes, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats.
