In this leadership-focused accounting role, you will support government contracting clients with complex financial operations, compliance requirements, and strategic advisory services. You will oversee accounting processes tied to federal contracts while ensuring adherence to FAR, CAS, and DCAA regulations in a highly detail-oriented and client-driven environment. - Oversee and support government contractor clients with compliant accounting operations, including transaction management, invoicing, reconciliations, and financial cleanup activities.
- Manage accounting processes for multiple contract types, including Firm Fixed Price (FFP), Time & Materials (T&M), and Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF) contracts.
- Review financial statements, indirect cost rate calculations, and other compliance-related financial reports for government contracting clients.
- Advise clients on accounting and compliance matters related to FAR, CAS, DCAA requirements, cost allowability, and allocability regulations.
- Deliver strategic financial guidance to improve operational performance, strengthen reporting practices, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and support annual forward pricing budgets and other financial planning initiatives tied to government contracts.
- Assist clients with Incurred Cost Submissions and related compliance documentation.
- Stay current on evolving government contracting regulations, accounting standards, and industry best practices to proactively support client needs.
- Lead, mentor, and develop junior accounting staff while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Manage client relationships, ensure high-quality deliverables, and maintain strong service standards while meeting deadlines and business objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in government contract accounting within public accounting, consulting, or outsourced accounting environments.
- Strong expertise in Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and DCAA compliance requirements.
- Experience preparing Incurred Cost Submissions and supporting government contract compliance reporting.
- Familiarity with government contract accounting software such as Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, or similar platforms.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage client relationships, and oversee complex accounting engagements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with the capacity to collaborate effectively across teams and with clients.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
- CPA certification or progress toward certification may be considered a plus.
- Competitive salary range of approximately $135,000 – $160,000 USD depending on experience and qualifications.
