Shift Work Required: NoDuties and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Manager, Road Safety, this position will be responsible for:
  • Supporting the implementation and monitoring of initiatives aligned with the Vision Zero Road Safety Plan;
  • This position involves collecting and analyzing traffic data, investigating traffic-related complaints, and making recommendations to improve road safety;
  • This position is responsible for preparing work orders, maintaining traffic and collision databases, and drafting reports for Council approval to ensure alignment with Vision Zero goals and objectives;
  • Will utilize specialized Traffic Engineering Software to evaluate traffic patterns and road safety conditions;
  • Investigates public and agency concerns related to traffic safety and provide recommendations for improvements;
  • Will collect, analyze, and maintain traffic and collision data for Vision Zero initiatives;
  • Will conduct site visits to assess safety hazards and propose actionable solutions;
  • Prepares work orders for implementing safety improvements such as signs, pavement markings, and traffic calming measures;
  • Ensures all installations comply with Vision Zero principles and relevant regulations;
  • Responsible for drafting technical reports, by-law amendments, and Council submissions regarding road safety projects and modifications;
  • Responsible for coordinating with internal departments and external stakeholders to advance Vision Zero goals;
  • Engages in community outreach and educational efforts to promote road safety awareness.;
  • Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program;
  • Will perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a three (3) year post-secondary school Community College Diploma in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering Technology or related field or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency;
  • Must have over three (3) years of experience in traffic engineering or road safety.
  • Must hold and maintain a current valid and lawful Class ‘G’ Driver’s Licence in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purpose of operating a City of Windsor vehicle and provide a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment;
  • Must have knowledge of Ontario Traffic Manuals (OTM) and the Highway Traffic Act;
  • Must be familiar with Vision Zero principles and practices;
  • Must have strong technical report writing and presentation skills;
  • Experience with Traffic Engineering Software considered an asset;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) will be considered an asset.
Physical Demands:Given that this job is a new position a Physical Demands analysis will be completed with the incumbent after approximately six months of occupying the position.
