This role focuses on building scalable backend infrastructure for an AI security product designed to help organizations monitor AI assets, assess risks, and act on security insights. You will develop critical server-side applications and APIs while helping shape secure, reliable systems for emerging AI environments. The position combines backend engineering with cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, data management, and distributed systems. You will work closely with frontend engineers and other technical teams while contributing to architecture and engineering best practices. The environment is fast-paced and highly iterative, with opportunities to solve complex problems and influence the evolution of AI security. Your work will directly support secure, compliant, and scalable adoption of AI technologies.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable server-side applications and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and data-storage solutions to support reliable and high-performing applications.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs and collaborate with frontend engineers to connect user-facing functionality with backend services.
• Contribute to microservices architecture and develop backend components designed for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Optimize system performance through appropriate approaches to caching, message queues, distributed architectures, and other scalability strategies.
• Implement authentication, authorization, data protection, and other security controls across backend systems.
• Deploy and manage backend services using cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, system troubleshooting, debugging, upgrades, and continuous technical improvement.
• Stay current with emerging backend technologies, cybersecurity practices, and industry standards and apply relevant developments to engineering work.

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience, with strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend applications and APIs.
• Strong database management experience, including schema design, query optimization, and data-storage solutions.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing RESTful APIs; familiarity with GraphQL is a plus.
• Experience designing and implementing microservices architectures.
• Strong understanding of scalability and performance optimization, including caching strategies, message queues, and large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience implementing authentication, authorization, data protection, and other backend security mechanisms.
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure and services, particularly AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities, with a practical approach to resolving complex technical issues.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning in rapidly evolving AI and cybersecurity environments.

• Base salary range of $132,000–$182,000 USD, with the applicable range varying by candidate location.
