Commissioning Field Manager I

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Commissioning Field Manager I based in the United States.

This role plays a critical leadership function in the execution of commissioning activities across complex, mission-critical infrastructure projects such as advanced data centers and high-performance building systems. You will oversee on-site commissioning efforts, ensuring electrical, mechanical, and controls systems are tested, validated, and fully operational according to design and performance standards. Acting as both a technical leader and client-facing representative, you will coordinate field teams, vendors, and contractors while ensuring project milestones, budgets, and quality expectations are met. The position requires strong decision-making in the field, with responsibility for managing risk, resolving technical issues, and maintaining alignment between design intent and real-world execution. You will also contribute to planning, documentation, and continuous improvement of commissioning processes in a fast-paced, highly technical environment. This is a hands-on leadership role with significant travel and direct impact on project success and client satisfaction.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and manage on-site commissioning activities including inspection, functional testing, validation, troubleshooting, and startup of electrical, mechanical, and controls systems
  • Coordinate and direct vendors, contractors, and field teams to ensure efficient execution of commissioning plans and schedules
  • Develop and review commissioning plans, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance test scripts for complex systems
  • Participate in factory acceptance testing and oversee equipment startup and system integration activities
  • Serve as primary on-site client contact, ensuring clear communication, issue resolution, and strong long-term relationships
  • Identify project risks, deviations, and technical issues, and support mitigation strategies to protect scope, schedule, and budget
  • Review construction documents, shop drawings, and design specifications to ensure alignment with commissioning requirements
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, including testing records, progress reports, and final commissioning closeout materials
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or related technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical, mechanical, and controls systems
  • 8+ years of experience in installation, testing, validation, and troubleshooting of complex building infrastructure systems
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and controls system principles in mission-critical environments
  • Experience in commissioning, field engineering, or infrastructure project delivery at scale
  • Ability to manage multiple field activities, teams, and priorities in fast-paced environments
  • Strong client-facing communication skills with experience serving as a primary point of contact
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan, delegate, and coordinate technical work effectively
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and strong documentation capabilities
  • Ability to work independently in remote and field-based environments with high levels of autonomy
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% across the United States and work near major airports
  • Ability to obtain required certifications such as NFPA 70E and OSHA (10/30) as needed
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
Benefits:
  • Salary range: $133,000 – $163,000 annually, depending on experience and location
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage (including coverage for dependents up to age 26)
  • 401(k) plan with company match and self-directed investment options
  • Flexible spending accounts (FSA) for healthcare and dependent care expenses
  • Company-paid life insurance and disability coverage (short- and long-term)
  • Paid time off, including additional year-end holiday closure
  • Paid parental leave after one year of employment
  • Tuition reimbursement, professional development, and licensing support
  • Strong opportunities for career progression into senior commissioning leadership roles
  • Remote-based position with significant domestic travel flexibility
