Job Description
Are you passionate about construction, cost analysis, and developing competitive project proposals? We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Mechanical Estimator to play a critical role in the success of our projects by developing accurate cost estimates that drive informed business decisions and winning bids.
In this role, you will collaborate with engineers, project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to evaluate project requirements, analyze costs, and develop comprehensive estimates for commercial, industrial, and construction projects. Your expertise will directly contribute to the successful planning, budgeting, and execution of projects.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects and services.
- Review plans, specifications, drawings, and other project documentation to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor requirements.
- Analyze historical cost data and market trends to develop competitive pricing strategies.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, clients, vendors, and subcontractors throughout the estimating process.
- Evaluate project risks, opportunities, and cost-saving alternatives.
- Prepare bid packages and support subcontractor and supplier selection processes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Monitor project costs and compare actual performance against estimated budgets.
- Assist in developing cost control procedures, reporting systems, and estimating standards.
- Conduct site visits to evaluate project conditions, logistics, access, utilities, and other factors that may impact project costs.
- Participate in bid reviews, project handoffs, and post-project evaluations to improve estimating accuracy.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost optimization and operational efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in cost estimating, preferably within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, labor productivity, and project costing.
- Experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other estimating software and cost management tools.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.

This position combines office-based estimating activities with occasional site visits to evaluate project conditions and support accurate cost development.
Physical Requirements- Ability to conduct site visits and navigate active construction environments when required.
