Job Description

Lone Mountain Ranch

For more than 100 years, Lone Mountain Ranch has welcomed guests to beautiful Big Sky, Montana. Set on 148 acres just minutes from Yellowstone National Park, the Ranch is known for authentic Western hospitality, exceptional dining, outdoor adventures, and unforgettable guest experiences.

The beauty of the Ranch may be what guests remember first, but it's the people who create the experiences they remember most. Together, we take pride in caring for this special place—preserving its history, stewarding its natural surroundings, and creating meaningful experiences for every guest who visits.

Whether you're welcoming guests, preparing memorable meals, caring for our historic property, or supporting operations behind the scenes, every role contributes to creating unforgettable experiences while helping shape the next chapter of Lone Mountain Ranch's legacy.

Lead a Team That Keeps the Ranch Moving

At Lone Mountain Ranch, transportation is about more than moving people from one place to another. It's often one of the first and last interactions our guests have with the Ranch, and every ride is an opportunity to create a welcoming, memorable experience.

We're looking for a Transportation Manager who enjoys developing people, solving operational challenges, and leading by example. You'll oversee the Transportation Department while building and leading a seasonal team that delivers safe, reliable, and thoughtful service to both guests and employees.

Each season brings new team members, new challenges, and new opportunities to build a culture where employees feel supported, confident, and empowered to deliver exceptional service.

If you believe exceptional guest experiences begin with exceptional employee experiences, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

As Transportation Manager, you will:

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and train Transportation team members.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop your team through regular feedback and support.
  • Create schedules that support business needs while balancing operational needs with a positive employee experience.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative team culture.
  • Oversee airport transfers, guest transportation, employee shuttles, special events, and daily transportation operations.
  • Partner with the Transportation Dispatch Supervisor to coordinate schedules and daily logistics.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Department to keep the fleet safe, clean, and guest-ready.
  • Collaborate with the Outpost Leadership Team and departments across the Ranch to provide seamless guest experiences.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to changing weather, guest needs, and operational priorities.
  • Look for opportunities to improve processes while taking time to understand existing systems.
  • Help develop future leaders within your team.
Who Thrives Here

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Lead with integrity, humility, and consistency.
  • Enjoy coaching and developing others.
  • Build trust through clear communication and follow-through.
  • Stay calm under pressure and adapt quickly.
  • Value teamwork over ego.
  • Take ownership and focus on solutions.
  • Believe exceptional guest experiences begin with exceptional employee experiences.
  • Appreciate both hospitality and operational excellence.
  • Learn first, then look for ways to improve.
What You'll Bring

You'll be successful in this role if you have:

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • The ability to safely operate passenger vans and other Ranch vehicles.
  • The flexibility to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and varying schedules during peak seasons.

Bonus points if you also have:

  • Experience in transportation, hospitality, logistics, or operations.
  • Experience leading seasonal teams.
  • Experience with scheduling or dispatch operations.
  • Familiarity with mountain driving and winter weather conditions.
Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent walking, standing, entering and exiting vehicles, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including snow, ice, heat, and rain.

Why Join Lone Mountain Ranch?

At Lone Mountain Ranch, we believe exceptional hospitality starts with exceptional people.

You'll join a leadership team that values integrity, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning. We invest in people who lead by example, build strong teams, and take pride in creating memorable experiences for both guests and fellow employees.

In return, we offer competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, opportunities for professional growth, and the chance to build your career at one of Montana's most iconic guest ranches.

If you're looking for a place where your leadership matters, your team can thrive, and your work creates memorable experiences every day, we'd love to hear from you.
