Job Description

JOB TITLE:

Mobile Unit Driver

SUMMARY:

This position is primarily responsible for driving the Mobile Unit, transporting staff to community designations and transporting participants to various services, in addition to driving for agency business.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Position reports to the Program Manager

SCHEDULE:

The team regularly works in the field, and schedules may vary based on program needs. The position does require at least one late day and flexibility with scheduling.

LOCATION:

Queens

POSITION TYPE:

Fulltime, 35 hours

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Transportation of staff within the community to designated venues to provide services.
  • Transportation of staff conducting agency business.
  • Transportation of prospective participants to needed services.
  • Always operate vehicle in a safe and appropriate manner, obeying all traffic laws and park in legal areas.
  • Wear a seat belt at all times while driving.
  • Ensure that passengers wear seat belts as prescribed.
  • Do not transport anyone who is not an employee or participant of Elmcor without supervisory permission.
  • Maintain a travel log which includes destinations and mileage.
  • Ensure that vehicle is maintained in a clean and mechanically safe manner at all times.
  • Ensure that vehicle inspections are maintained timely – always with supervisory consultation.
  • Ensure that vehicle maintenance is performed at prescribed intervals – always with supervisory consultation.
  • Immediately report any vehicular mishaps and/or summonses to a supervisor. If the police must be called, an accident report must be filed both at the site and at the agency.
  • If the vehicle should breaks down on the road, you are to take all safety measures to ensure the safety of the passengers and yourself.
  • When applicable, responsible for using the EZ pass for Elmcor vehicles only.
  • Ensure that your driver’s license is always valid and without restrictions.
  • Always use hands free head phone if using a cell phone while driving.
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School Diploma or its equivalent with 2-3 years passenger van/mobile unit driving experience and clean driving record or;
    • 5-7 years passenger van/mobile unit driving experience with a clean driving record.
    • Must successfully complete a criminal background check, obtain clearance from the Office of Children and Family Services and be substance free.

  • Performs duties in a manner that expedites work requirements.
  • Manages time, adheres to deadlines and prioritizes tasks.
