PeopleTools Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a PeopleTools Specialist based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to manage and enhance enterprise PeopleSoft environments that support critical business operations.
You will take ownership of platform architecture, administration, upgrades, integrations, and performance optimization.
The position combines deep PeopleTools expertise with modern infrastructure, automation, and cloud technologies.
You will collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders to deliver stable, scalable, and secure enterprise solutions.
The ideal candidate will bring strong troubleshooting skills, operational discipline, and experience supporting complex production environments.

Accountabilities:

The PeopleTools Specialist will be responsible for the technical administration, optimization, and ongoing evolution of enterprise PeopleSoft platforms. This role requires strong expertise in PeopleTools, infrastructure operations, automation, and production support to ensure reliable and secure system performance.

  • Install, configure, maintain, and support PeopleSoft environments across development, testing, training, and production stages.
  • Lead PeopleTools upgrades, PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) image applications, and patch management activities.
  • Manage PeopleSoft application servers, process schedulers, web servers, and integration broker components.
  • Administer Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or legacy search technologies supporting PeopleSoft functionality.
  • Perform system copies, environment refreshes, and cloning activities while maintaining operational consistency.
  • Support database connectivity and collaborate with database teams on Oracle administration activities.
  • Configure and maintain PeopleSoft security across application, web, and infrastructure layers.
  • Operate PeopleSoft Cloud Manager or similar automation platforms where applicable.
  • Design and support high availability and disaster recovery strategies for PeopleSoft environments.
  • Develop automation solutions using shell scripting, Python, Ansible, or similar tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and capacity while identifying opportunities for optimization.
  • Provide post-production support, incident troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and long-term remediation.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation including architecture diagrams, configurations, operational procedures, and support guides.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through knowledge sharing, technical reviews, and collaborative problem-solving.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced PeopleSoft technical professional with strong administration, troubleshooting, and infrastructure skills. They should be comfortable managing complex enterprise systems, improving operational processes, and collaborating across technical and business teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Five or more years of hands-on PeopleSoft PeopleTools administration experience.
  • Experience managing PeopleTools upgrades and PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) processes.
  • Strong knowledge of PeopleSoft application servers, process schedulers, WebLogic, and Tuxedo.
  • Experience administering Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or similar search platforms for PeopleSoft.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Database administration and database connectivity.
  • Strong Linux/Unix administration skills and shell scripting experience.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft Cloud Manager or comparable automation tools.
  • Experience supporting high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform is preferred.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD approaches for PeopleSoft change management is a plus.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Selective Adoption strategies is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance.
