Summary
|
Works in the Centralized Refill group to assist patients with medication management, refills, education, and other duties as assigned. Works with other teams within the department and primary care or specialty offices to include care teams, telehealth triage nurses, schedulers, and medication authorization team. Uses current Electronic Medical Record as the official patient record for documenting all items related to medication management review to include appointment history, scheduling a new appointment, reviewing previous telephone encounters, and Epic medication protocols as typical steps in the daily work to ensure safe medication management activities. Duties and Responsibilities: Accepts telephone calls from patients requesting medication refills. Works the in basket to complete electronic medication refill requests. Collaborates with healthcare teams via telephone encounters. Utilizes the electronic medical record to access and review patient records and step through medication refill protocols. Works toward first call resolution of patient’s request. Functions independently in a fast-paced environment. Interacts with pharmacies telephonically. Schedules clinic appointments for patients with primary care or specialty providers. |
Education
High school graduate or equivalent GED required. Successful completion of an Indiana Board of Pharmacy approved Pharmacy Technician Training program.
Licensure/Certification
Must have an Indiana Board of Pharmacy Tech license or a current State Board of Indiana license as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern.
Experience

Minimum of one year pharmacy experience (retail work preferred or Institutional Pharmacy work) required. |
Other Qualifications
|
Basic computer skills to navigate and document within the electronic medical record. Ability to determine the patient need through conversation with a patient. Superior verbal communication skills are essential. Teaching ability. Typing and computer ability to keep track of information gathered during the telephone conversation. Follows standard operating procedures |
