We are currently seeking a skilled Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team and help support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our manufacturing facility at 96 Gatehouse Road, Sanford, Maine.

Position Summary

The Electro-Mechanical Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, installing, and improving electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment. This position plays a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime, supporting production goals, ensuring workplace safety, and maintaining the reliability of manufacturing systems and facility infrastructure.

The successful candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, and a commitment to quality and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment and automated production systems.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities on equipment and machinery.
  • Test and evaluate the performance of electromechanical assemblies and systems using diagnostic equipment to include, oscilloscopes, electronic voltmeters, or bridges.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system issues.
  • Repair, rework, calibrate, and adjust machinery to meet operational specifications and performance standards.
  • Install, replace, and maintain electrical and electronic components, motors, sensors, drives, and control devices.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and tolerances using precision measuring instruments.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Document maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and corrective actions.
  • Perform welding and fabrication work as needed using equipment to include welders, grinders, drills, and other metalworking machinery.

Production Support

  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency repair situations.
  • Work closely with machine operators and supervisors to identify equipment issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Support production goals by minimizing downtime and maximizing equipment uptime.

Facility & Building Maintenance

  • Perform additional building maintenance duties as needed to support management and operational requirements.
  • Support maintenance and repair of facility systems, structures, utilities, and infrastructure.

Safety & Compliance

  • Support and adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and policies.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
  • Participate in safety training and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of industrial maintenance, electro-mechanical, or related experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, machine drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, operators, and coworkers.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to report for all scheduled shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical school certification, vocational training, associate degree, or equivalent training in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Textile, rug, carpet, or weaving industry experience.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly; occasional lifting may exceed 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, squat, climb ladders, and reach overhead as required.
  • Ability to perform work in various positions while servicing equipment.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read instructions, electrical schematics, equipment displays, and perform repair work.
  • Ability to work on concrete floors and around operating manufacturing equipment for extended periods.
