Job Summary:
The Molding Team Lead is responsible for supporting daily production activities by providing hands-on leadership, coordinating workflow, and ensuring operators have the guidance, resources, and technical support needed to safely produce quality products. This role serves as the primary resource on the production floor, promoting teamwork, communication, accountability, and continuous improvement while supporting the Molding Supervisor in achieving production, quality, safety, and operational goals.
Responsibilities:
Production Leadership
- Support daily production activities to ensure production schedules and operational priorities are executed safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate daily workflow, staffing assignments, and work priorities established by the Molding Supervisor.
- Monitor machine performance, downtime, production flow, and resource availability while communicating concerns promptly.
- Support machine startups, changeovers, troubleshooting, and process stability as needed.
- Ensure operators have the materials, tools, boxes, colorants, and resources required to perform their work efficiently.
Team Leadership & Development
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to operators and floor personnel.
- Train, coach, and cross-train employees while reinforcing standard work, operating procedures, and quality expectations.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and a positive work environment.
- Support the Molding Supervisor by providing real-time feedback on team performance and escalating employee performance, attendance, safety, or behavioral concerns when appropriate.
Safety & Quality
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while promoting 5S standards.
- Monitor product quality and collaborate with Quality, Processing, and Maintenance teams to resolve production issues.
- Identify potential quality, safety, or operational concerns and assist in implementing corrective actions.
Communication & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain effective communication with Operators, Processors, Setters, Quality, Warehouse, Maintenance, and Production Supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Conduct shift pass-downs and communicate production priorities, operational updates, and expectations.
- Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, quality, and productivity while reducing downtime and waste.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects and support department initiatives.
Administrative Support
- Complete production documentation accurately and assist with Oracle transactions and production reporting as required.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Minimum of three (3) years of manufacturing experience.
- Experience in injection molding and/or blow molding.
- Previous production leadership experience.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred
- Experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems.
- Lean Manufacturing experience.
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, twist, push, pull, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and moving equipment.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and varying schedules based on business needs.
