Job Description

Contrleurse adjointe

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Contrôleur·se adjoint·e based in Canada.

This is a high-impact, builder-style finance leadership role focused on transforming and modernizing accounting operations within a fast-scaling global environment. You will operate at the intersection of technical accounting, financial systems, and automation, with a mandate to streamline the month-end close and build scalable infrastructure connecting data systems and ERP platforms. The role combines hands-on ownership of complex accounting topics with leadership of external audits, internal controls, and cross-functional finance operations. You will help design the future of reporting by bridging GAAP financials with management reporting in a highly automated, data-driven environment. This position requires strong autonomy, technical depth, and a continuous improvement mindset. It is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth organizations where finance is evolving through technology and AI.

Accountabilities:

You will take ownership of technical accounting, financial controls, and systems transformation while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence:

  • Lead technical accounting research and documentation across complex standards such as revenue recognition, leases, equity instruments, and financing transactions.
  • Manage end-to-end external audit processes as the primary point of contact for auditors across multiple entities.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve internal controls and SOX readiness frameworks.
  • Oversee month-end close processes, ensuring GAAP compliance, identifying discrepancies, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Manage multi-entity and multi-currency consolidation, intercompany reconciliations, and transfer pricing compliance.
  • Build and automate reporting and reconciliation frameworks connecting data warehouse systems with ERP platforms (e.g., NetSuite).
  • Support automation initiatives across finance, including AI-driven tools to reduce manual processes and improve efficiency.
  • Provide oversight to accounting operations functions, including AP, AR, and cash management activities.
Requirements

This role requires deep accounting expertise combined with systems thinking and a strong automation mindset:

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with readiness to operate at a senior leadership level.
  • Active CPA designation.
  • Experience in public company environments with exposure to complex, scaled finance operations.
  • Proven ownership of external audit processes as the main liaison with auditors.
  • Strong background in technical accounting and writing formal accounting memos on complex topics.
  • Experience designing internal controls and implementing SOX compliance frameworks.
  • Systems-oriented mindset with experience building or automating financial processes and close cycles.
  • Familiarity with data tools (e.g., SQL or similar) or strong willingness to develop these skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite is a strong asset.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear business insights.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-growth, and technology-driven environments.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation with pre-IPO equity opportunities.
  • Fully covered health, dental, and vision insurance premiums.
  • Life, short-term, and long-term disability coverage.
  • Health spending account for eligible medical and dental expenses.
  • Retirement savings plan with automatic contributions.
  • Generous parental leave policies above market standards.
  • Unlimited paid time off policy.
  • Travel and wellness stipends, including flexible work-from-home support.
  • Access to telemedicine services for employees and dependents.
  • Strong culture of autonomy, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
  • Collaborative, high-impact environment with small and agile teams.
