The Heavy Equipment Field Technician is responsible for operating heavy machinery to dig, move, load or grade earth, materials or debris. Duties include transporting machinery and material as needed.
Requirements:Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, skid steers, bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, graders, cranes, and dump trucks
- Maneuver equipment to mulch, dig, move, load, or grade earth, materials, or debris according to project specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and site plans to guide excavation, grading, or leveling work
- Work closely with branch leadership and team members to ensure project stays on schedule
- Transport materials (dirt, gravel, asphalt, etc.) between locations on site
- Adjust work based on daily site conditions, weather, and supervisor instructions
- Complete daily equipment/production reports
- Track material quantities moved or placed
- Communicate progress or delays to supervisors
- Conduct pre-operation inspections (fluid levels, tires/tracks, hydraulics, brakes) and post-operation checks
- Use spotters and signal persons when operating in tight or high-traffic areas
- Maintain awareness of underground utilities, overhead lines, and other job-site hazards
- Communicate effectively with clients and deliver excellent customer service
- Maintain accurate records of treatments and services performed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Class A CDL
- Strong work ethic with a passion for working outdoors
- Good math and science skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry a 40-lb. backpack sprayer throughout the day on uneven terrain
- Comfortable working around water bodies in variable weather conditions
- Must have an excellent driving record
- Ability to pass a drug screening (Drug-Free Workplace)
