Role Overview

The Product Line Manager is a critical member of the Marketing and Product Line Management team responsible for driving growth, profitability, customer value, and market relevance across assigned product lines. This role is ideal for a commercially minded, technically curious, and highly motivated professional with experience in concrete, admixtures, construction materials, specialty chemicals, or a related technical industry.

The Product Line Manager will lead the development and execution of product line strategies, including product positioning, pricing strategy, lifecycle management, sales enablement, new product development, and competitive response. This position requires strong ownership, responsiveness, follow-through, and the ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Technical Service, R&D, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Marketing Communications, and customers.

The successful candidate will manage assigned product lines as a business, translate market and customer needs into action, support the sales organization with practical tools and training, and drive initiatives from discussion to completion. This role may support any product category within the Product Line Management group, including admixtures, fibers, aesthetic solutions, specialty products, or other concrete-related technologies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Product Line Strategy and Growth Plans: Develop and execute product line strategies that support profitable growth, market differentiation, and long-term business objectives. Build product positioning, value propositions, competitive assessments, lifecycle plans, and technology roadmaps. Identify new business opportunities, market risks, and product gaps, and proactively develop action plans to address them.
  • New Product Development: Lead cross-functional new product and solution development projects from concept through commercialization. Coordinate project plans, business cases, customer needs, performance targets, cost expectations, and launch requirements. Work closely with R&D, Technical Service, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure new product efforts are aligned with market needs and business priorities.
  • Product Launch: Lead the end-to-end product launch process for assigned product lines. Develop launch plans, positioning, messaging, sales tools, training materials, and internal communication plans. Ensure Sales, Technical Service, and other stakeholders understand product features, value, target applications, competitive positioning, and customer benefits.
  • Sales and Marketing Communications: Collaborate with Marketing Communications, Sales, and Technical teams to develop high-quality sales tools, promotional materials, presentations, product literature, competitive comparisons, and customer-facing resources. Participate in customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and seminars to promote assigned product lines and support commercial growth.
  • Partnerships and Value-Added Programs: Identify, develop, and support strategic partnerships, customer programs, and value-added initiatives that strengthen product line performance. Create programs and tools that differentiate product offerings, solve customer problems, and provide measurable value to customers and the business.
  • Sales Development and Sales Training: Support product-based sales development and training by developing, distributing, and delivering product value propositions, technical-commercial guidance, customer presentations, and competitive positioning. Serve as a responsive and dependable resource for Sales and Technical Service teams.
  • Supply Chain Linkages: Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement, and Demand Planning teams to forecast demand, monitor product availability, support inventory planning, and address supply-related risks. Help ensure customer requirements and business priorities are supported through effective product line and supply chain coordination.
  • Product Line Management Operating Expectations: Operate with strong ownership, urgency, and professional accountability. Acknowledge calls and emails in a timely manner, close the loop on commitments, propose realistic next steps when immediate resolution is not possible, and raise blockers early. Maintain consistent engagement with Sales, Technical Service, customers, and cross-functional partners to ensure product line priorities move forward and do not stall after meetings, reviews, or planning discussions.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Chemistry, Construction Management, Materials Science, or a related field required.
  • Advanced degree, MBA, or specialized training in construction, engineering, concrete technology, or business is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction materials, concrete, admixture, specialty chemicals, building materials, or related technical industry required.
  • Experience in product management, sales, marketing, technical service, business development, research and development, or commercial management within a technical environment preferred.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, product launches, pricing initiatives, product development projects, or business improvement plans is a strong asset.
Skills and Knowledge

  • High level of motivation, ambition, curiosity, and drive to grow within the product line management function.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to work across functions and all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking, including experience with market analysis, pricing strategy, product positioning, and profitability improvement.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical product information into clear customer and sales value.
