About the Role
Weʼre seeking a strategic, technically fluent Director of Media Workflow
Operations to lead the transformation and optimization of video workflows across
our global publishing brands. Youʼll be responsible for designing scalable systems
and operational frameworks that enable our video teams to produce and distribute
high-quality content efficiently-across platforms, formats, and business units.
In this leadership role, youʼll drive the evolution of our production infrastructure,
streamline legacy workflows, and partner across editorial, engineering, product,
and vendor teams to implement future-ready solutions. Your work will have a
direct impact on how we deliver video-from breaking news to evergreen
packages-to millions of viewers worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
• Define and lead the strategic vision for end-to-end video production and
distribution workflows across the organization
• Oversee the integration and optimization of tools such as Media Asset
Management MAM, video players, CMS, cloud storage, metadata
systems, and DRM platforms
• Partner with editorial, engineering, and product leadership to align
operational workflows with content strategies and business goals
• Manage a team of workflow specialists, operations leads, or
cross-functional contributors to deliver large-scale process and system
improvements
• Drive tool and vendor evaluations, including supporting RFPs and
commercial negotiations for media production technologies
• Establish and enforce workflow governance, rights compliance, metadata
standards, and cross-brand best practices
• Lead change management initiatives to ensure successful adoption of new
tools and processes
• Track KPIs and performance metrics to continuously assess workflow
efficiency and surface opportunities for improvement
• Represent video workflow needs in senior leadership forums and
cross-departmental planning
Qualifications
• 10 years of experience in media operations, production technology, or
digital video infrastructure-ideally within a newsroom or publishing
environment
• Proven success leading complex, cross-functional workflow
transformations
• Expertise in modern video production pipelines, including asset
management, editing, versioning, and multi-platform publishing
• Deep knowledge of systems such as Mimir, JW Player, Suite, Adobe Suite,
and enterprise video platforms
• Experience navigating large organizations with legacy systems, managing
competing priorities, and implementing scalable operational models
• Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and change management
skills
• Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to assess technical opportunities
through a business lens
• Bonus: Experience with live video workflows, vertical video, or AI-driven
production tools

Base Pay Range: $160,000 - $190,000 + Bonus
