Position Summary
This is a part-time position, estimated at approximately 15 hours per week in the Des Moines office. Schedule flexibility may be available, but the role requires consistent weekly availability to monitor bid opportunities, support deadlines, and maintain timely communication with internal and external stakeholders.
The Supplier Government Sales Support Specialist will provide dedicated sales and administrative support for TIG’s supplier-based government quoting and bid-response business. This role is responsible for monitoring government bid opportunities, organizing bid documentation, coordinating quote support, tracking bid outcomes, and improving visibility into the government sales process.
This position brings structure, consistency, and follow-through to a revenue channel that requires regular attention, accurate documentation, timely communication, and strong coordination between TIG, suppliers, fulfillment partners, and internal commercial resources.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable working with data and documentation, and able to manage follow-up across multiple stakeholders. This role is well suited for someone who can work independently, maintain accurate records, and help the team improve bid responsiveness and win/loss visibility.
Key Responsibilities
Government Bid Monitoring and Documentation· Monitor government bid platforms, customer communications, and internal sources for relevant supplier bid opportunities.
· Document active, pending, submitted, won, and lost bids in a consistent tracking format.
· Maintain accurate records of bid requirements, deadlines, part numbers, quantities, pricing needs, and submission status.
· Help identify which bid opportunities should be evaluated for potential TIG participation.
Quote and Bid Support· Coordinate with internal team members to gather required information for bid responses.
· Support quote package preparation, documentation, and follow-up.
· Track quote turnaround time and ensure deadlines are visible to the appropriate internal stakeholders.
· Assist with communication between TIG, suppliers, fulfillment partners, and other supporting resources.
Win/Loss and Performance Tracking· Track bid outcomes, including wins, losses, no-bids, pricing gaps, timing issues, and other relevant decision factors.
· Help develop visibility into why bids are won or lost.
· Support regular reporting on bid activity, bid volume, win rate, revenue impact, and process improvement opportunities.
· Maintain organized records that allow TIG to better understand the government bid environment over time.
Supplier and Partner Coordination· Support regular communication with suppliers and fulfillment partners related to government bid opportunities.
· Help coordinate pricing support, product availability information, and other inputs needed for bid submissions.
· Escalate issues or delays that may impact TIG’s ability to respond effectively or competitively.
Process Improvement· Help create a repeatable process for government bid review, bid/no-bid recommendations, quote support, and outcome tracking.
· Identify gaps in documentation, communication, pricing support, or follow-through.
· Recommend improvements to increase responsiveness, bid selectivity, and overall effectiveness of the government sales channel.
Requirements:Qualifications
· High School Diploma
· At least one year prior experience in sales support, customer service, quoting, bid administration, government sales, aftermarket parts, distribution, or supply chain.
· Experience working with product data, part numbers, pricing information, or customer bid requirements is preferred
· Familiarity with government bid processes or public-sector procurement is helpful but not required.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to manage multiple deadlines and follow-up items at once.
· Comfortable working with spreadsheets, tracking logs, email, and basic business systems.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
