Position Summary: The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of manufacturing equipment within the SunButter production facility. This role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment used in food processing, roasting, grinding, and packaging operations. The technician will support production uptime, product quality, and compliance with food safety and regulatory standards.

Preventive Maintenance
  • Perform routine inspections and scheduled maintenance on production equipment including roasters, grinders, conveyors, and packaging lines
  • Execute preventive maintenance plans to reduce unplanned downtime
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, records, and work orders
Troubleshooting & Repairs
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production disruptions
  • Partner with production teams to identify root causes and implement solutions
Equipment Optimization
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency
  • Assist in implementing upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects
  • Support lean manufacturing and downtime reduction initiatives
Food Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all FDA, GMP, SQF, and company food safety standards
  • Ensure maintenance work does not compromise product safety or allergen controls
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment in accordance with food manufacturing standards
Facility Maintenance
  • Perform general facility maintenance including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building systems
  • Support upkeep of utilities and infrastructure critical to production
  • Ensure maintenance areas are organized, clean, and compliant with safety standards
Safety
  • Adhere to all OSHA and company safety protocols
  • Participate in safety training and audits
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions or hazards immediately
Documentation & Communication
  • Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, parts usage, and downtime
  • Communicate effectively with production and leadership teams regarding equipment status
  • Support inventory tracking for maintenance parts and supplies
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with production staff to understand equipment performance and address any issues.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members and departments to coordinate maintenance activities.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance or a related field, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
    • Familiarity with industrial machinery and tools.
    • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing setting.
  • Abilities:
    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
    • Capability to lift and move heavy objects as required.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or on-call as needed.


Working Conditions:

  • Primarily based in a production facility with exposure to machinery, heat, and noise.
  • Requires standing, bending, and physical exertion for extended periods.
  • Occasional work in confined spaces and with hazardous materials, following all safety protocols.
