Kraken Robotics is currently recruiting for a Trainee Geoscientist to join our Aberdeen, UK office.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conform to all Kraken Robotics HSEQ policies and procedures to ensure all activities onshore and offshore are carried out in a safe manner.
- Work offshore when required around the world as assigned by the Director, Geoscience and Data Processing and Operations team.
- While working offshore, assist with the quality control and interpretation of various geophysical datasets such as; Sub‑bottom Imager (SBI), Acoustic Corer (AC), KATISH synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) and magnetometer.
- Assist with the mobilisation and demobilisation of Kraken Robotics equipment during offshore projects.
- While working onshore, continue interpretation of Sub-bottom Imager, Acoustic Corer, SAS and magnetometer datasets and produce the required client deliverables under the supervision of the Lead Geoscientist and Geoscience Deliverables Lead.
- Assist with the integration of geotechnical and other geophysical interpretations into Kraken Robotics geophysical datasets.
- Assist with the writing of technical reports while offshore during a survey and for the end project results reports.
- Be able to work to deadlines as set by the Geoscience Deliverables Lead.
- Attend training courses where required and apply what has been learned to everyday working where possible.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor (BSc) degree in Geophysics, Geology or similar.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Masters (MSc) degree in Geophysics, Geology or similar.
- Some experience with using some of the following geophysical interpretation/processing software such as: OpendTect, EIVA NaviModel, QGIS, Oasis Montaj, DUG Insight and SonarWiz.
- Knowledge of the offshore wind farm, oil and gas and cable installation industries.
