Job Description

Cooke is a global seafood company with operations in North America, Europe, South America and Australia. Our company’s success is driven by our dynamic, highly skilled, and innovative management team, supported by dedicated employees who live in coastal communities and contribute to the local area’s economy and sense of community.

Cooke is strengthening its Enterprise Architecture capability to improve how complex business and technology decisions are shaped across the organization. The practice brings together business needs, applications, data, integrations, security, and technology so that major initiatives can move forward with clear direction and fewer avoidable gaps.

As an Enterprise Architect, you shape initiatives before and during delivery by defining the architecture approach, assessing options, identifying affected areas, and setting practical guardrails. This role will focus primarily on Finance initiatives while supporting other business priorities where required.

The Role

You work with business leaders, delivery teams, and technology specialists to turn business needs into clear architecture direction. You look beyond an individual system or project to understand wider impacts, dependencies, and longer-term implications. You provide architecture leadership for significant initiatives, from early problem framing and option assessment through solution design and key delivery decisions. You do not replace the teams accountable for delivery; you make sure they have the direction, constraints, and decisions needed to deliver their part. You also contribute to the standards, roadmaps, patterns, and architecture views used to guide consistent decisions across Cooke.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture work for complex business and technology initiatives, establishing the scope, approach, affected areas, and key decisions
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand the problem, desired outcomes, operating constraints, and capability needs
  • Develop current-state, target-state, and transition views that give delivery teams a clear and practical direction
  • Assess solution and vendor options, explaining the trade-offs across business value, cost, risk, complexity, supportability, and strategic fit
  • Identify impacts and dependencies across processes, applications, data, integrations, security, infrastructure, operations, and affected companies
  • Define architecture guardrails and decision criteria, and remain engaged through delivery when material design choices or exceptions arise
  • Review proposed designs and recommendations to identify gaps, duplication, unsupported assumptions, and decisions requiring escalation
  • Support Architecture Review Board and portfolio governance with clear, evidence-based architecture assessments
  • Develop and maintain relevant roadmaps, principles, standards, reference models, and reusable solution patterns
  • Identify opportunities to simplify the application landscape, improve reuse, reduce fragmentation, and strengthen shared capabilities
  • Support acquisition and integration assessments where business or technology decisions have wider enterprise implications
  • Work across Data, Integration, Security, Infrastructure, Application, and Delivery teams to maintain end-to-end alignment

What Success Looks Like

  • Business and technology leaders have clear options and understand the implications of major decisions
  • Initiatives move into delivery with an agreed architecture approach, visible dependencies, and practical guardrails
  • Material risks, gaps, and cross-team impacts are identified early enough to influence the outcome
  • Delivery teams understand the architecture guardrails that apply and know when material design changes require further architecture review.
  • Roadmaps and target-state views are grounded in business priorities and used to guide investment and sequencing
  • Architecture governance improves decision quality without taking ownership away from accountable delivery teams
  • Opportunities for simplification, reuse, and consolidation are translated into actionable decisions

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Broad architecture experience spanning business capabilities, applications, data, integrations, security, and technology
  • Ability to frame complex problems and translate business needs into clear architecture direction
  • Experience leading architecture across significant initiatives with multiple teams, systems, and stakeholders
  • Strong option assessment and decision-support skills, including the ability to explain trade-offs plainly
  • Experience developing roadmaps, target states, transition plans, principles, standards, and reusable patterns
  • Ability to identify cross-functional impacts, dependencies, ownership gaps, and delivery constraints
  • Working knowledge of enterprise applications, cloud platforms, data, integration, security, and operational support models
  • Clear written, visual, and verbal communication with senior business, technology, and delivery stakeholders

Behaviors That Drive Success

  • Ownership & Accountability – Takes responsibility for clear architecture direction, sound analysis, and visible decisions
  • Enterprise Perspective – Considers wider business and technology impacts without losing sight of the immediate delivery need
  • Practical Judgment – Applies standards with context and focuses effort where architecture can materially improve the outcome
  • Collaboration & Influence – Builds alignment across teams without relying on direct authority
  • Clarity – Makes complex issues understandable and separates facts, assumptions, risks, and decisions
  • Delivery Awareness – Stays close enough to implementation to address material changes while respecting delivery ownership

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, technology strategy, or complex transformation roles
  • Demonstrated experience providing architecture leadership across business and technology initiatives
  • Experience assessing commercial platforms, vendor proposals, custom solutions, integrations, and technology investments
  • Experience working across business, application, data, integration, security, infrastructure, and operational concerns
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and support decisions in environments with competing priorities
  • Experience in a complex, multi-company, acquisition-driven, or federated organization is an asset
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture frameworks and repository tools is an asset
