Job Description

Description:

Center for Hope and Safety, located in Bergen County NJ, is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting victims of domestic violence and their children. We believe every person has the right to be safe, empowered and free from violence.

In this role, you will be provide case management to clients of the Rapid Rehousing Program and oversee the Rapid Rehousing and Transitional Housing programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Rapid Rehousing (RRH) and Transitional Housing (TH) teams with all residential and case management needs.
  • Complete psychosocial intake with new clients, work with clients to establish goal plans and monitor goals.
  • Follow and comply with all HUD requirements for approval for all RRH subsidy requirements. Complete and review all applications.
  • Assist clients with planning, communal or independent living and weekly chore list, which includes cleaning, organization, recycling, etc. Conduct monthly house meetings with the team.
  • Provide de-escalation to clients during crisis and provide on-call crisis support as needed to the clients and team.
  • Provide coaching and counseling to clients on personal growth issues, parenting skills and behavior management of their children. Run groups on related topics, as necessary.
  • Work with clients one-on-one to provide coaching in the areas of independent living/self-sufficiency skills including but not limited to: budgeting, financial planning, shopping, meal planning, house cleaning, personal organization, etc. Then assign the Life Skills Case Manager (LSCM) to follow up on assisting the clients with those skills.
  • Meet with residents weekly and/or bi-weekly at their apartment, residential settings or in the office
  • Perform advocacy work as needed (i.e. legal, police, medical, etc.) in correlation with the prescribed goal plan. Encourage clients to sign up for services available in the community such as Housing Authority, Emergency Welfare, etc.
  • May accompany clients to court, welfare, and/or apartment search field visits or assign those tasks to the LSCM.
  • Provide supervision to LSCM and provide oversight of the weekly tasks.
  • Provide clients with transportation skills to enable them to have access to appointments, job training, employment, etc. with the LSCM.

  • Demonstrate professionalism, cultural humility, and respect in all interactions.
  • Support the Center's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and survivor empowerment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors, case managers, or directors to support agency operations and the evolving needs of survivors.
Requirements:
  • Master’s in Human Services required
  • Minimum one (1) year of intensive case management experience required
  • Must have a car and valid driver’s license

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be a motivated self-starter capable of working independently
  • Strong initiative, good communication skills essential
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Experience with nonprofit software highly preferred, or must be willing to learn

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and use standard office equipment for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move office supplies and donations weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to perform repetitive keyboard and hand movements
  • Availability to work weekends and some evenings as per the program needs
