Job Description
Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries is seeking a hands-on, adaptable Operations Support Specialist to help keep our Central Processing operations running efficiently. This position serves as a working lead and supports multiple operational areas, including production, quality assurance, inventory, employee training, workflow coordination, process improvement, and eCommerce.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, training others, and stepping in wherever needed to keep people and products moving.
This position is full-time, Monday - Friday, dayshift hours.
What You’ll Do- Support daily operations across Central Processing based on production and staffing priorities.
- Help coordinate workflow to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
- Evaluate donated merchandise and assist with decisions regarding retail sale, eCommerce, salvage, recycling, or disposal.
- Train and cross-train employees on procedures, equipment, safety practices, and quality expectations.
- Coach employees on productivity, quality, and proper work techniques.
- Assist with inventory counts, reconciliation, supply monitoring, and store orders.
- Identify quality issues, inventory discrepancies, safety concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
- Help implement new processes, operational initiatives, and departmental projects.
- Maintain accurate records and a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Provide hands-on support in different areas of the operation as business needs change.
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least two years of experience in warehouse, manufacturing, production, logistics, distribution, retail operations, or a related environment.
- Previous experience leading or training employees is preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, use sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to coach employees professionally and maintain appropriate authority.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn company systems.
- A flexible, team-oriented approach and willingness to support multiple operational areas.
This is an active, hands-on position. Candidates must be able to, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and twist.
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Push, pull, and move donated merchandise and equipment.
- Operate pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment.
- Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements.
- Visually inspect merchandise for quality and safety.
