Clinical Educator - Surgical Suite

Crouse’s Surgical Suite / OR team is hiring a Clinical Educator to provide training, assistance and guidance to staff within the Witting Surgical Center by acting as a resource person with the intent to provide optimum perioperative patient care.

Available Schedule(s): Full-Time, 7:00am-3:30pm and other shifts as needed

Salary Range - $93,000 plus based on experience and education

Clinical Educator
Responsibilities:

  • Proactively facilitates department orientation for new employees, in-service education sessions and other specialized education programs in the area of assigned responsibility.
  • Effectively promotes role competence, learning and change.
  • Collaborates with department leadership with the daily functioning of the department by evaluating assignments and efficiency opportunities.
  • Professionally acts as both a formal and informal consultant, assists with the integration of new learning and serves as a resource by assisting in identifying problems, identifying available internal and external educational resources, and selecting educational options.
  • Actively participates in evidence-based research to identify strategies for improving professional development activities, nursing practice, policies and procedures, and patient outcomes.
  • Assists others to identify both their learning needs and the effective learning activities required to meet those needs while fostering a positive attitude about the benefits and opportunities of life-long learning.
  • Collaboratively assists in the creation of educational programs.
  • Effectively facilitates the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency.

Clinical Educator Requirements:

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a current matriculation in a Bachelor's in Nursing degree program with an established program end-date.
  • Certification in a specialty area; if hired without CNOR, a commitment to obtaining this certification will be required
  • Two (2) years of operating room nursing experience required
  • Two (2) years’ experience as a clinical educator preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at the time of hire or within two (2) weeks after hire.
