Description:

George School, a Quaker boarding/day grades 9-12 college preparatory school located in Newtown, Bucks County, PA has 2 openings for part-time Assistant Teachers for our Early Childhood Education Center at George School.

George School's Children's Center serves and educates children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years. We are a Keystone STARS 4 Center.

The shifts are 7:30 am - 1 pm and 12 pm - 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

  • Create a caring and safe environment for the children and assist in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education at the Children’s Center.
  • Treat each child with dignity and respect and maintain positive communication and discipline with the children. Establish a caregiver relationship that communicates acceptance and supports the development of each child in a nurturing manner.
  • Assist, guide and facilitate children in their toileting routine and/or diapering of infants and toddlers. Provide guidance in eating habits and rest habits. Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling. Provide safe outdoor/indoor activities daily.
  • Actively participate in all indoor and outdoor experiences of the age group.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma.
  • Child Development Associate or some college credits required.
  • Professional experience with children preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry children for short periods and to effectively communicate and actively participate in all experiences of the particular age group, i.e., sit, crawl, stoop, run, climb, jump, dance, etc.
  • Ability to physically and mentally react appropriately and immediately to the diverse and unexpected situations that arise in early childhood education.
  • Discretion, respect and ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Commitment to working towards antiracism and developing and practicing cultural competency.
  • Commitment to the traditions and philosophy of a Quaker educational community.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population and a style consistent with Quaker values.
