Director of Quality and Performance Improvement
We are seeking an accomplished Director of Quality and Performance Improvement to advance our mission of supporting safety and high reliability across the organization.. This pivotal role provides strategic, operational, and thought leadership supporting patient safety and quality initiatives and sustainability of high reliability principles at Children’s Specialized Hospital. It provides direction and coordination to develop and implement evidence based programs and services that produce measurable improvements that affect patient safety. As the Director of Quality and Performance Improvement, a typical day may include:
- Directing daily operations of the Quality and PI Department
- Directs and coordinates patient safety activities across the organization as assigned, including, quality, compliance, and performance audits, surveillance activities, prospective risk assessments and analyses
- Mentors and coaches, other leaders and managers in conducting prospective risk and intensive analyses, action planning, monitoring and auditing
- Conducts RCAs to investigate occurrences, identifying proximate causes, developing root causes, and drafting corrective action plans for discussion with key stakeholders
- Serves as a change agent, develops, coaches, and facilitates complex process optimization projects as assigned, in order to achieve measurable progress to achieve strategic priorities
- Provides thought leadership and recommendations for improving workflows, team structures, and system configurations Rounds with staff and leaders in a continual pursuit of patient safety improvement opportunities
- Creates and promotes an environment conducive to teamwork and performance improvement and participates actively in meetings and projects to improve quality service.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support those services for Quality and Performance Improvement Department initiatives.
- Coordinates new programs to help in the development of our staff at RWJBarnabas Health System.
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating policies and procedures to meet regulatory, accreditation, safety, and infection control standards.
- Overseeing budget development and financial stewardship, optimizing resource allocation without compromising quality.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have an active New Jersey RN license and a minimum of a Master’s degree in Nursing, DNP or PhD in nursing strongly preferred. A minimum of 5 years of recent nursing leadership within acute care setting including strategic planning, performance improvement, policy development, research, analytics, benchmarking and report writing. is required, preferably within a large health system or academic medical center. Pediatric experience is required.
