Position Description:
What You'll Do

Project Design Leadership Lead technical design work on Control Systems and Electrical projects, partnering with engineers to produce construction packages from front-end loading through detailed design. Own quality checks and ensure all work adheres to Anvil's Project Services Quality System.

Technical Mastery Apply expert-level knowledge of AutoCAD, P&ID interpretation, control network design, and wiring/conduit systems for NEC-hazardous classified areas. Contribute to 3D models and develop PLC/DCS hardware and wiring designs.

Supervisory Excellence Balance approximately 75% project work with 25% supervisory duties. Support hiring, performance reviews, training plans, and team development while coordinating daily with Work Group Leads. Build and sustain a high-performing design team that reflects Anvil's core values.

What You Bring

Must-Have Qualifications
  • Education: A.A.S. or higher in engineering or related discipline, preferred
  • Experience: 15-25 years in Control Systems or Electrical design on Oil & Gas, Refining, and/or Petrochemical projects
  • Technical Skills: Expert-level AutoCAD and Controls/Instrumentation or Electrical Design
  • P&ID Interpretation: Ability to translate complex P&IDs into control system documents
  • Controls Design: PLC/DCS hardware and wiring, industrial communication networks, NEC-hazardous area wiring systems
  • Software: SPI/Intools, 3D design software; MicroStation preferred
  • Codes & Standards: Compliance with governing codes, regulations, and client standards
Essential Requirements
  • Strong communication skills: written, oral, and in-person
  • Experience developing construction packages for projects $1MM–$30MM TIC
  • Ability to build a team, mentor designers at all levels, and provide constructive feedback
  • Ability to engage in difficult conversations with assertiveness, respect, and tact
  • Experience working within stage-gated project processes
  • Willingness to travel to remote work sites on occasion
  • Strong Microsoft Office proficiency

Physical Requirements
  • Able to sit/stand, type, and perform computer work for long periods of time.
  • Frequent use of hands/fingers for computer entry and answering phones.
  • Able to perform occasional bending, lifting, and reaching.
  • Must be able to lift 15 lbs if necessary.
  • Visual acuity sufficient for reading documents, computer screens, and technical materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally in-person, by phone, and via video conferencing.
  • Hearing ability adequate for meetings, presentations, and collaboration.
  • Ability to concentrate and maintain attention for extended periods while managing multiple priorities.
  • Able to work in heavy industrial facilities: climb ladders, work off elevated surfaces, and walk over uneven surfaces while wearing required PPE.
  • Able to travel to job sites as project needs require.
