About the Role:

The Behavioral Health Tech II plays a critical role in supporting the mental health and well-being of patients by providing direct care and assistance under the supervision of clinical staff. This position involves monitoring patient behavior, implementing treatment plans, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. The Behavioral Health Tech II collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to observe and report changes in patient conditions, contributing to effective treatment outcomes. This role requires a compassionate and patient-centered approach, balancing empathy with professionalism to support individuals facing behavioral health challenges. Ultimately, the Behavioral Health Tech II helps facilitate recovery and stability for patients through consistent, attentive care and intervention.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant Certification.
  • Basic knowledge of mental health disorders and behavioral health care principles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Experience working in inpatient or outpatient behavioral health facilities.
  • Training in crisis intervention techniques and de-escalation strategies.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Additional certifications related to behavioral health care, such as Certified Psychiatric Technician (CPT).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care and support to patients with behavioral health needs, including assistance with daily living activities and therapeutic interventions.
  • Monitor and document patient behavior, mood, and progress, promptly reporting any significant changes to clinical supervisors.
  • Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans and participate in therapeutic group activities as directed by clinical staff.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment for patients, intervening in crisis situations as necessary to ensure safety.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, therapists, and physicians, to coordinate patient care and support treatment goals.

Skills:

The Behavioral Health Tech II utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to build rapport with patients and effectively collaborate with clinical teams. Observation and documentation skills are essential for accurately recording patient behaviors and changes, which inform treatment adjustments. Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills are applied to manage challenging situations safely and compassionately. Organizational skills help in managing multiple patient needs and maintaining a structured environment. Additionally, familiarity with electronic health records enhances efficiency in documenting care and coordinating with healthcare providers.


1st shift - 7 am to 3 pm
2nd shift - 3 pm to 11 pm
