Position Summary
The Staff Accountant supports the bank’s accounting and finance functions by preparing general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting support, budgeting assistance, regulatory reporting support, audit documentation, and financial analysis. This position helps ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, and effective support for business lines across the bank.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The duties include but are not limited to the following:
· Support accounting and reconcilement activities related to bank operations, including deposit, loan, investment, borrowing, fixed asset, accrued expense, and prepaid expense accounts, as assigned.
· Prepare general ledger postings and daily and monthly journal entries; assist with review and reconciliation as assigned.
· Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, working closely with business units.
· Assist in data analytics processes to identify trends, variances, and KPIs across business lines.
· Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings, including the FFIEC Call Report.
· Assist with monthly close processes, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
· Use Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and formulas, to support financial models, data analysis, reconciliations, and reporting.
· Maintain appropriate supporting documentation, review evidence, and audit trails for assigned reconciliations, journal entries, reports, and schedules.
· Assist business units with accounting-related questions, reporting support, variance explanations, and other financial matters.
· Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting or financial reporting systems; ability to learn core banking, general ledger, reconciliation, and reporting platforms.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a deadline-driven environment.
· Ability to interact in person, by phone, and in writing with internal customers, business partners, and co-workers.
· Ability to work under short time frames and deadlines for completion of work.
· Strong attention to detail skills with a demonstrated ability to produce accurate and quality work.
Minimum Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
· 2+ years of experience in accounting and financial reporting, preferably within a financial institution environment.
· Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
· Accounting foundation is required, along with Excel and data analytics skills.
Valued, but not required skills and experience
· Knowledge of FFIEC and FRB reporting and requirements, including Call Report.
· Familiarity with banking systems (Jack Henry, SilverLake experience a plus).
· Experience with Power BI, Power Query, or report automation preferred.
· Prior experience in community banking or financial services preferred.
