Job Description
The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager is responsible for leading, maintaining, and continuously improving the quality function within Innovative IDM’s manufacturing operations. This role oversees the Quality Control (QC) team, owns Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and drives process improvements to ensure all products meet customer requirements, applicable standards, and internal quality expectations.
The QA Manager ensures all control panels and assemblies are accurate, compliant, and audit-ready while fostering a culture of quality across all locations. This role is responsible for maintaining and elevating the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensuring compliance with UL 508A, UL 698A (as applicable), and related industry standards.
Requirements:Quality Management, Compliance & QMS Oversight
- Lead development and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Establish and enforce quality standards, SOPs, and inspection procedures
- Ensure consistent application of quality practices across all locations
- Serve as UL liaison and MTR (or equivalent), managing:
- UL documentation, Procedure Descriptions, and labeling systems
- UL inspections and audit readiness
- Implementation of UL 508A / 698A updates
- Ensure compliance with UL standards, NEC requirements, and internal workmanship expectations
Inspection, Testing & Shop Floor Quality
- Ensure all panels meet engineering specifications, BOMs, and quality standards
- Oversee inspection and testing processes including:
- Point-to-point wiring verification
- Continuity and Hi-Pot testing
- Conduct audits to verify:
- Panel layout, spacing, and routing
- Torque accuracy and component installation
- Ensure all products are safe, repeatable, traceable, and audit-ready without rework
QC Team Leadership & Training
- Lead and develop the QC team through coaching, training, and performance management
- Ensure inspections are accurate, timely, and properly documented
- Deliver training on:
- UL-compliant workmanship
- Wiring, assembly, and inspection standards
- Promote a culture of accountability, consistency, and quality
CAPA, Continuous Improvement & Process Governance
- Own the CAPA process and lead investigations into defects and nonconformances, and recurring quality issues
- Perform root cause analysis using structured methodologies and verify effectiveness of corrective actions
- Manage NCR tracking to identify trends, systemic issues, and opportunities for preventive action
- Lead and facilitate the development, review, implementation, and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation across business functions to improve consistency, compliance, efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
- Partner with department leaders to identify opportunities for process standardization, documentation improvements, and cross-functional workflow enhancements that support scalability and continuous improvement across the organization.
- Establish and maintain process governance practices to ensure quality procedures, standards, documentation, and controls remain effective, current, and aligned with operational and business objectives
Engineering, Customer & Audit Support
- Partner with engineering to ensure SCCR compliance, proper protection design, manufacturability, and compliance with UL listing/recognition requirements
- Review schematics, layouts, BOMs and technical documentation for quality, compliance, and manufacturability
- Provide feedback on design issues, recurring defects, process gaps, and opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with manufacturing and project teams to resolve quality issues and support project execution
- Serve as primary quality contact for audits, inspections, customer inquiries, and regulatory interactions
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
- 5–8+ years in industrial manufacturing, control panel, or electrical environments
- 5+ years in QA/QC or quality systems
- 3–5+ years in a quality leadership role
- Experience with CAPA, root cause analysis, and QMS implementation
Technical, UL & Regulatory Competencies
- Strong knowledge of UL 508A (required), UL 698A (preferred), NEC, and NFPA 79
- Experience with SCCR, power distribution, and overcurrent protection
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, BOMs, layouts, and P&IDs
- Hands-on familiarity with continuity and Hi-Pot testing
- Proficiency with inspection and measurement tools
- Experience managing UL documentation, labeling, and audit processes
- MTR certification or similar UL responsibility strongly preferred
