Job Description

Heartspring is seeking compassionate, patient, and dedicated Therapeutic Classroom Paraprofessionals to support students with developmental, intellectual, and behavioral disabilities in a specialized educational setting.
Working alongside licensed special education teachers, therapists, and behavior specialists, you'll help students build academic, communication, social, and independent living skills while creating a positive and structured learning environment. This is a FULL TIME position
Schedule- Location: Wichita, KS
- Schedule: Full-Time
- Hours: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: 7:15 AM – 3:45 PM, Wednesday: 7:15 AM – 4:00 PM , Friday: 7:15 AM – 3:30 PM
- Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent
- Provide direct support to students in a therapeutic classroom while promoting academic, behavioral, communication, and social growth.
- Partner with special education teachers and interdisciplinary team members to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and classroom learning activities.
- Reinforce positive behaviors using evidence-based behavior support strategies and trauma-informed practices.
- Assist students with classroom routines, transitions, personal care, and daily living skills while encouraging independence.
- Support students one-on-one and in small group instructional settings based on individualized educational goals.
- Collect and document student progress, behavioral observations, and classroom data to support educational planning.
- Help maintain a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment that encourages student success.
- Utilize approved Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) techniques when necessary to safely respond to behavioral challenges.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, therapists, nurses, administrators, and families to support each student's educational journey.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Passion for working with children with autism, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, emotional disabilities, or behavioral health needs.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional during challenging situations.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Ability to complete Heartspring orientation and required annual training.
- Maintain CPR certification and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification.

- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and assisting students throughout the school day.
- Ability to lift, transfer, and assist students as necessary.
- Ability to safely perform approved crisis intervention techniques when required.
- Occasional exposure to bodily fluids and other situations common in educational and healthcare environments while following established safety procedures.
