Job Description
Position summary
The Intake Specialist is responsible for completing tasks associated within the Billing Department Group. Responsibilities will include scheduled Accredited training, timely resolutions, proper submission of documents, and compliance with the AMS Policy & Procedure Manual, Employee Handbook, and HIPAA Policies & Procedures as required by all AMS team members. This position is expected to perform tasks within the quality and productivity standards assigned to position responsibilities and will report directly to (the) Intake, Billing, and Extensions Manager.

- Engages with department manager for all performance related reviews and feedback discussions
Experience
- Prior experience working in a managed care environment or healthcare setting is highly preferred.
- Medical office experience demonstrating familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and insurance verification processes is essential.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security is required.
- Experience with medical coding systems such as CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, or ICD coding is necessary for accurate documentation.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in an office environment.
Position Specific Expectations
The Verification Intake Specialist is responsible for completing tasks associated with insurance verification. Specific job responsibilities will be in customer service, data entry, Workers Compensation insurance verification, etc.
A Verification Specialist is expected to perform assignment tasks within the quality and productivity standards assigned to position responsibilities.
Data Entry:
· Basic data entry into PCs, maintain database/spreadsheet by entering new and updated account information, verify patient data by reviewing, correcting, deleting or reentering correct information, review patient documentation for data deficiencies, resolve data deficiencies by using standard procedures.
Verification:
· Contact Insurance companies to verify patient coverage to meet daily productivity and quality standards, obtain prior authorizations when required by the payor, update patient insurance information, claim numbers, adjuster information, etc.
· Stays up to date on pricing tables and contract obligations as directed by management
Clerk/Scanning:
· Responsible for a variety of complex clerical functions, such as prepping, scanning and indexing patient information, indexing all documents to the appropriate patient as applicable; ensuring each document is assigned the appropriate document name, requesting medical records from sales team to help in the billing and collections process.
