About UOE Tech Hub
Our Tech Hub is a shop-in-shop experience for our customers, positioned within our Stamp retail store and post office. We provide customers with a convenient place to get their phones and devices repaired, receive technical advice and purchase tech accessories.
Role Purpose
As a Phone and Device Repair Trainee, you will work alongside and report directly to our Phone & Device Repair Technician, learning the skills and knowledge needed to become a confident and capable device repair technician.
You will support the day-to-day running of the Tech Hub, helping customers with their technology needs while developing practical repair skills through hands-on training and supervised work.
You will learn how to diagnose common faults, carry out repairs safely and correctly, test devices and provide excellent customer service. As your skills and confidence develop, you will take on more responsibility and carry out a wider range of repairs under the guidance of the Technician.
Based in our Brent Cross store, this is a customer-facing role within our Tech Hub counter. You will work closely with the Technician, as well as our retail and Post Office colleagues. The role requires both weekday and weekend working and is a 40 hour contract.
Key Responsibilities
• Learn to repair smartphones and tablets alongside experienced technicians, starting with screens, batteries, back glass and charging ports.
• Shadow the Technician on diagnostics and learn how to trace faults properly rather than guess.
• Build practical repair skills through supervised work on real customer devices.
• Greet customers, book devices in and keep them updated from drop-off to collection.
• Test completed repairs and learn what a finished repair looks and feels like to the Stamp standard.
• Keep the bench clean, tidy and anti-static, with tools and parts where they should be.
• Log parts and keep repair records accurate.
• Handle customer data securely and in line with UK GDPR.
• Take direction and feedback from the Technician while developing the skills needed to progress into a Technician role.
You will have
• A real interest in phones, tablets and technology, whether from tinkering at home or helping friends and family.
• Careful hands and the patience to learn fiddly work properly.
• A willingness to learn, take instruction and develop practical repair skills.
• A positive attitude, good communication and a genuine interest in customer service.
• Strong numeracy and attention to detail, because accuracy matters.
• The right to work in the UK for at least 15 months from the start date.
• The ability to lift and carry up to 12kg.
• Able to pass an enhanced DBS check.
• Working to our repair and warranty standards.
This is an opportunity to build a career in device repair while learning directly from an experienced Technician in a real customer-facing environment.
If you're passionate about technology, enjoy helping people and want to build your skills in phone and device repair, we'd love to hear from you!
