Position: Quality Improvement and Risk Management Specialist
Classification: Exempt (Salaried)
Reports to: Manager, Quality Improvement and Rick Management, Texans Together

Position Description:
The Quality Improvement and Risk Management Specialist plays a key role in advancing a culture of continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and risk awareness across Texans Together. This position supports quality improvement and risk management activities, data collection and analysis, incident monitoring, and improvement initiatives that enhance service delivery and client outcomes. The Specialist collaborates with internal departments to ensure adherence to agency policies, contract requirements, licensing standards, and accreditation benchmarks.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist in implementing the agency’s Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) Plan and related strategies.
  • Collect and analyze program data to monitor service quality, identify trends, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the planning and facilitation of CQI and Risk Management Committee meetings, peer reviews, and focus groups.
  • Contribute to the preparation of internal and external quality reports, dashboards, and presentations.
  • Participate in performance improvement projects and recommend data-informed actions.
  • Monitor and track incident reports to ensure proper documentation, follow-up, and trend identification.
  • Assist in conducting root cause analyses and documenting action plans to reduce future risk.
  • Serve as a QIRM point of contact for network providers, communicating expectations, responding to questions, and coordinating provider communications
  • Provide technical assistance to network providers as needed, including guidance on documentation, quality practices, risk prevention, and implementation of improvement activities.
  • Coordinate QIRM follow-up with providers on findings identified by the Contract Monitoring team, including monitoring findings, corrective action plans (CAPs), and Improvement Focus Plans; track progress and elevate unresolved concerns through established channels.
  • Respond to placement concerns identified by the Placement team, gather and document relevant information, and provide guidance, intervention, or escalation as appropriate.
  • Plan and participate in quarterly metric meetings with network providers; prepare and review quality and risk data, document discussion and action items, and follow up on identified improvement opportunities.
  • Review and approve serious incident reports in accordance with TTG procedures, verify required information and follow-up, identify trends, and escalate safety or compliance concerns when appropriate.
  • Assist with compliance monitoring to ensure adherence to licensing regulations, contract requirements, and COA accreditation standards.
  • Help coordinate mock audits, document reviews, and readiness activities for site visits or reviews.
  • Maintain documentation and evidence to support ongoing accreditation and quality improvement activities.
  • Assist with the development, revision, and formatting of organizational policies and procedures to ensure alignment with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Support the internal policy review and approval process by organizing materials, tracking policy updates, and coordinating with department leads.
  • Maintain the agency’s policy software to ensure documents are up to date, accessible, and compliant with licensing, contract, and accreditation standards.
Required Qualifications:
  • BA or BS degree
  • Two years’ experience working in social service capacity/setting. Working knowledge of quality improvement and accreditation processes, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of non-profit services and programs.
  • Possess persuasive, clear, and strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to read and interpret data, information, and documents.
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints to meet deadlines.
Work Conditions:
  • Environment: Office-Based
  • Range of Schedule: Mon – Fri, 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Travel: Occasional
