Accountabilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary engineering team across web, iOS, Android, backend, API, database, and analytics systems.
  • Define technical strategy, engineering roadmaps, and team structures aligned with long-term business objectives and product priorities.
  • Drive hiring initiatives with a strong focus on diversity, inclusion, and building high-performing teams.
  • Oversee software delivery processes to ensure scalable, reliable, and high-quality product development in a fast-paced agile environment.
  • Make key decisions regarding architecture, infrastructure, scalability, and technology investments to support continued growth.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, editorial, marketing, and data teams to execute innovative product initiatives.
  • Stay close to the codebase while supporting technical discussions, product ideation, and engineering best practices.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching and feedback, and support career development for engineers.
  • Continuously improve team workflows, development processes, and operational efficiency across engineering functions.
  • Contribute to broader organizational initiatives related to hiring, technical branding, culture, and inclusion.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams within fast-paced technology organizations.
  • Proven experience overseeing the development of both web and mobile applications across iOS and Android platforms.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to scale teams, drive performance, and foster a collaborative engineering culture.
  • Solid understanding of modern software architecture, infrastructure scalability, and agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experience working with technologies such as JavaScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, GraphQL, PHP, MySQL, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, and AWS environments.
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical involvement and product collaboration.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with experience partnering across multiple business functions.
  • Passion for mentoring engineers, improving team processes, and supporting professional growth and development.
  • Experience evaluating technical trade-offs and prioritizing initiatives based on business impact and operational needs.
