Job Description

The City of Leawood is hiring a Parks Maintenance Worker to help maintain our parks, trails, athletic fields, playgrounds, and public spaces. Prior park maintenance experience is helpful but not required. We are prepared to train someone with the right attitude, work ethic, and commitment to safety.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Maintain turf, athletic fields, parks, trails, playgrounds, and other City properties.
- Mow, trim, aerate, seed, fertilize, weed, and perform other turf-care activities.
- Prepare athletic fields for practices, games, and special events.
- Install, repair, and maintain irrigation systems.
- Inspect and maintain playgrounds, park amenities, tools, and equipment.
- Work safely and collaboratively to complete daily assignments and projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
PREFERRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED
- Experience in parks, landscaping, or grounds maintenance
- Experience with operating and maintaining mowers, trimmers, and other landscaping equipment
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brakes and tanker endorsements
SCHEDULE & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Typical schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
- Employees may be required to work evenings and/or weekends during peak periods, emergency operations, and other events
- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions
- This is a physically active, hands-on role with a team that relies on each other every day
PAY & BENEFITS
- Starting Rate of Pay: $22.06 - $25.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
- Insurance Benefits: Coverage begins on the first day of the month following hire
