Statement of Learning Outcomes for Federal Work Study Student Employees:

  • Demonstrate professional communication skills with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

  • Provide excellent customer service in a welcoming and respectful manner.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to support office operations, events, and student engagement initiatives.

  • Develop leadership skills by taking initiative, solving problems, and assisting peers when needed.

Function of Position:

  • Assist Student Engagement staff with basic student services duties at the Downtown Campus

This position may be funded through Federal Work Study (FWS) and/or departmental budgetary funds, depending on eligibility and departmental need. Federal Work Study applicants must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to employment consideration. If you are unsure of your FWS eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying. Applicants must include their M# in any correspondence with the Financial Aid Office.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist potential students with MCC/SUNY applications

  • Assist potential and continuing students with FAFSA/TAP applications

  • Triage student questions

  • Check students into and monitor the fitness center

  • Check students into and assist students into DWIGHT Food Pantry

  • Assist staff during events and engagement activities

*This position is located at the Downtown campus.



Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled as a student at Monroe Community College

  • Must maintain satisfactory academic progress and be in good academic standing

  • Federal Work Study eligibility is required for FWS-funded positions (must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to hire)

  • Currently enrolled in at least 1 class or 3 credit hours

  • At least a 2.0 GPA

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

  • Previous customer service experience



Additional Information:

Pay Rate: $16.00/hour

Hours per Week: Up to 20 hours/week

Semester Hiring: Fall 2026 Semester - Downtown Campus
