Job Description

Are you an A&P mechanic ready for a career?

At LandLocked Aviation we perform aircraft refinishing and maintenance on commercial, corporate, and military aircraft. We're hiring an A&P mechanic to serve as a Quality Control Inspector. This person owns preliminary, in-process, and final inspection on every aircraft that moves through our hangar, and who helps protect our Repair Station Certificate.

This is hands-on aviation work. You'll be on the floor, on the aircraft, in the technical data.

Why LandLocked Aviation
  • Competitive pay: $30+ per hour, based on your experience, A&P tenure, and inspection background.
  • Free health, dental, and vision insurance for all employees.
  • A real team. Small enough that your judgment matters, established enough that you have the data, tooling, and backing to feel supported.
What You'll Do
  • Perform preliminary, in-process, and final inspections across the aircraft refinishing and maintenance process, verifying compliance with FAA regulations and customer requirements.
  • Interpret and apply technical maintenance manuals, SRMs, engineering orders, customer maintenance programs, blueprints, and drawings.
  • Build and close out work packages with complete, accurate, audit-ready documentation.
  • Inspect for corrosion, surface prep, coating adhesion, film thickness, masking integrity, and finish defects, plus associated sheet metal and structural work.
  • Use precision measurement tools and established inspection techniques to verify conformity.
  • Mentor and train technicians on quality standards, inspection process, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Help maintain the integrity of our FAA Part 145 Repair Station Certificate and our quality manual, including RII and buy-back procedures.
  • Support internal audits and customer audits.
What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate.
  • Working knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 43, 91, and 145 and the ability to find and follow approved technical data.
  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft technical data, drawings, and specifications.
  • Comfortable documenting your own work legibly and completely.
  • Available for full-time, on-site work in Lake Charles, 8–10 hour shifts, with flexibility to work weekends as needed.
  • Able to pass a background check and drug screen.

Preferred (not required — apply anyway):

  • Prior QC / quality inspector or final inspector experience in a Part 145 repair station.
  • Hands-on aircraft maintenance experience as an A&P mechanic or aircraft maintenance technician (AMT).
  • Aircraft paint, refinishing, coatings, or corrosion control background.
  • Aircraft sheet metal or structures experience.
  • Experience with corporate, commercial (Part 121/135), or military aircraft programs.
  • Familiarity with NDT methods, or coating inspection (mil thickness, adhesion testing).
Your Benefits Package
  • Free health, dental, and vision insurance for all employees
  • Life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and critical illness coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Paid vacation and holidays
  • Employee assistance program
