Job Title: Junior Dental Patient AR Lead
Reports to: Dental Department Manager
Position Summary:
The Jr. Dental Patient AR Lead will play a key role in the dental billing department by handling core patient billing responsibilities while also assisting in leadership and mentorship of new staff members. This position will focus on ensuring accurate and timely billing processes, enhancing revenue collection efforts, and supporting the Dental Department Manager in training and quality control. The role also involves taking on smaller billing tasks, all while working within the framework of the Medbill systems and tools. This role involves providing crucial support to the Dental Department Manager by creating, managing, and overseeing comprehensive training programs aimed at strengthening the knowledge and performance of the dental billing team.
Key Performance Areas & Key Performance Indicators:
RCM Training Development (20%):
- Assist in training on the entire patient billing process when needed
- Emphasize accurate data collection for patient billing
- Teach efficient methods of patient account billing
- Train on auditing, reviewing, reading EOBs to ensure correct patient balances.
- Ensure error-free and complaints patient account audits
- Educate on handling and correcting patient’s ledgers
- Optimize patient collection processes for better revenue recovery
System Expertise & Patient Balances Rates (20%):
- Ensure accurate auditing of patient accounts
- Assist in ensuring the team is proficient in using the Office DPMS for billing, reporting, and workflow
- Assist in ensuring accounts are accurately coded to minimize billing errors and concerns
- Regular training on proper handling and communicating the best practices for Patient AR
Clean ledger Rates (20%):
- Analyze and audit accounts balances promptly
- Master billing functionalities, reporting tools, and streamlined workflow processes
- Audit claims, patient co-payment for errors and ensure corrective actions are taken as needed
Reimbursement Time & Collection Rate (20%):
- Follow up on patient’s balance
- Send reminders and offer payment plans to patients
- Post patient payments on day of collected
- Ensure timely, accurate payments, and adjustments each day
Compliance Training, Performance Monitoring, Mentorship (20%):
- Conduct training on privacy laws and billing practices to avoid errors on fraud
- Assist in tracking key metrics to improve team performance
- Monitor patient co-payments for services, audits accuracy, and patient collections
- Provide feedback for improvement
- Provide ongoing coaching to support team members
- Offer one-on-one guidance and assist with troubleshooting challenges
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Highschool Diploma or GED Required
Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years in Dental Billing
- Strong knowledge of dental billing, accounts receivable, CDT codes, insurance verification, claims submission, and denail management
- Knowledge of Eaglesoft, Open Dental, and/or Dentrix preferred
Skills:
- Strong analytical skills to identify issues and guide others in a professional setting
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex billing concepts to new team members
- Excellent written and verbal communication
