Job Description
The Service Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the service department, including operations, customer satisfaction, employee development, and financial performance. This role ensures the service department operates efficiently, profitably, and in compliance with manufacturer and dealership standards while delivering a consistently positive customer experience.

Job Duties
- Lead, manage, and develop service department staff, including advisors, technicians, and support team members.
- Oversee daily service operations to ensure workflow efficiency, quality repairs, and on-time delivery.
- Forecasts goals and objectives for the department and strives to meet them.
- Monitor and improve customer satisfaction scores and service retention.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer standards, warranty policies, and dealership procedures
- Manage departmental performance metrics including labor sales, parts sales, productivity, and profitability.
- Collaborate with Parts, Sales, and Accounting departments to support overall dealership objectives.
- Ensures technicians remain in compliance with up-to-date, regular training and certifications as needed.
- Facilitates and/or conducts technical training and sends employees to appropriate training schools as needed.
- Monitors technicians' daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records.
- Monitors and follows up on parts orders with the parts manager to ensure availability.
- Address customer concerns and escalated issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Attends managers’ meetings.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and professional service department environment.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, coaching, and performance management of service team members.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous automotive service management or fixed operations leadership experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of service department operations, KPIs, and financial performance.
- Knowledge of manufacturer programs, warranty processes, and compliance requirements.
- Proven leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
- Excellent communication, time-management, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dealership environment and manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency with dealership management systems and service software.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Able to successfully pass a background screening, drug test, and motor vehicle record (MVR) check, as applicable.
