Pay: $80,200- $92,500 per year
Summary
COMC has an exciting opportunity for an ID & Catalog Manager to lead our Identification, Elite/Auction, and Catalog Subject Matter Expert teams. This role is responsible for people leadership, production and performance, catalog integrity, and the accurate identification of sports and non-sports trading cards.
About You
The ideal candidate is a strong operational leader who can develop frontline leaders, improve workflows, and build effective partnerships across Ingestion, Product, Engineering, and the broader organization.
Responsibilities/Duties
Leadership & Team Management
- Manage a diverse team spanning onsite and remote roles across ID & Catalog functions, adapting leadership style to each team's needs around workflow, mentorship, communication, accountability, and performance management.
- Build and maintain an effective team, escalating employee relations issues to the People team as needed; partner with People to conduct verbal warnings, write-ups, and terminations as required.
- Conduct interviewing, hiring, training, and onboarding as required.
- Set, coach, and communicate daily workflow goals to squad captains.
- Conduct weekly team huddles, squad captain meetings/check-ins, and annual performance reviews.
- Establish clear performance standards, meaningful KPIs, and a culture of accountability that drives quality, productivity, and service-level performance.
Strategy & Policy
- Strategize, implement, and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Set, implement, and maintain protocols enforcing COMC's Supported Trading Cards policy, including supported third-party grading and authentication services.
- Organize workflow and manage bottlenecks, developing strategies to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement training plans and strategies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Maintain strong cross-functional relationships across departments, supporting larger Ingestion team projects and all areas of the organization.
- Collaborate with Product Management to determine priority projects and deadlines.
- Ensure upstream communication of production issues impacting identification teams.
- Maintain catalog integrity through strong operational ties between the ID and Catalog teams.
Performance & Reporting
- Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly production goals are met to support broader operational objectives.
- Produce weekly and monthly production reports for analysis and review.
- Establish, monitor, and improve productivity, quality, accuracy, turnaround-time, and catalog-integrity KPIs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize work

- Strong organizational, planning, and execution skills
- Knowledge of Human Resources management practices and procedures
- Knowledge of business and management principles
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in learning about the trading card industry
- Preferred: Experience managing both remote and face-to-face roles, with a track record of success
- Preferred: Knowledgeable about the professional sporting industry (NBA, NFL, MLB, etc.)
- Preferred: Familiarity with major trading card manufacturers and their practices (Topps, Panini, Upper Deck, etc.)
- Preferred: Subject matter expertise in Identification team production tasks and responsibilities, such as raw card identification, graded card identification, country of origin/customs paperwork, and catalog creation
- Preferred: Familiarity with managing employees through digital HR and payroll platforms such as Paycom, ADP, Paycor, or OnPay
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- At least 2 years of experience directing/managing a team of associates, or equivalent experience training newly promoted supervisors

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to work with standard computer equipment such as keyboards, monitors, personal computers, and scanners, and to maintain delicate computer instruments with regular care as instructed. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit or stand for extended periods, and is sometimes required to stand, walk, bend, and reach with hands and arms for short to long periods of time; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and talk and hear. The employee is required to classify scanned trading cards based on subtle differences of design, text, and color.
