What You Will Do

  • Provides direct oversight and supervision of all assigned staff within the admissions processing unit to include hiring, issuing discipline, addressing performance concerns, and evaluating all assigned staff.
  • Coordinates all activities of staff engaged in the evaluation of the graduate and international admission processes.
  • Sets goals and expectations for all assigned staff and determines resources needed to perform roles.
  • Ensures unit compliance with all admissions deadlines and established admissions procedures.
  • Determines strategies for the development of new, or revisions to existing processing procedures.
  • Determines equipment, resources, personnel, and training necessary to implement any new procedure.
  • Conducts quality review checks through generated reports and random checks.
  • Serves as department liaison on various university committees for the Director of Admissions, unit staff and the university community regarding Banner and Slate, document imaging, applications, electronic application functions and capabilities and the process of admitting students into the university.
  • During periods of high volume or for escalated concerns, counsels and advises applicants on university academic requirements including admission policies and procedures.
  • Provides feedback and collaborates with the Associate Director of Processing and Director of Undergraduate Admissions on unit objectives and procedures.
  • Provides support for shared admissions processing functions across undergraduate, graduate and international operations, as appropriate, to meet operational needs, maintain processing timelines, and ensure continuity of service.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling four (4) years (48 months) from the categories below:
A. course work in any discipline as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
60 semester hours or an Associates Degree equals eighteen months (18 months)
90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
120 semester hours or a Bachelors degree equals three (3) years (36 months)
a Masters degree equals four (4) years (48 months)
B. work experience in administrative support, admissions and enrollment, customer service, public relations, records management, or closely related experience.
3. One (1) year (12 months) of supervisory or administrative experience in administrative support, admissions and enrollment, customer service, public relations, records management, or closely related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrate leadership, management, problem solving and decision making ability. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers. Superior organizational skills. Able to perform a high quantity of work with excellent quality. Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion. Comfortable with self-teaching and mastery of new technology to be implemented for improved processes. Ability to multitask and meet deadlines without direct supervision. Extensive interpersonal and group dynamics for managing the processing unit. Serve as a professional specialist in the process of admissions and activities. 4 years of supervisory experience in the processing unit. Managerial experience working with human resource resolving staff performance issues. Working knowledge of PC's, Banner, Slate and the SQL process of Perceptive Content. Have extensive knowledge of managerial skills with the ability to trouble shoot under extreme pressure with the ability to make critical and correct decisions when needed. Network with peers and administration to resolve issues. Ability to show a great deal of professionalism in dealing with difficult situations and assessing the best recourse for action.
