Job Description
The Medical Assistant 1 at App Internal Medicine is responsible for providing basic clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office. This entry-level position involves direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider. The Medical Assistant 1 will assist with patient intake, basic clinical procedures, and administrative tasks to support the smooth functioning of the practice. Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Assist in the examination and treatment of patients by taking and recording vital signs, medical histories, and preparing patients for examination.
- Patient Interaction: Provide compassionate and professional interaction with patients, addressing their needs and concerns during their visit.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient information in electronic medical records (EMR) and ensure all patient files are updated and maintained in accordance with clinic policies.
- Administrative Support: Assist with scheduling appointments, answering phones, and managing patient flow within the clinic.
- Infection Control: Follow all infection control procedures and maintain a clean and safe clinical environment.
- Supplies Management: Ensure examination rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and assist with inventory management.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.
- Compliance: Adhere to all clinic policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Previous experience in healthcare or clinic setting is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association is required at time of hire.
- RMA, AAMA, CCMA certification is required within one year from date of hire.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented healthcare environment.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
- Lifting and carrying medical equipment and supplies, occasionally weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Manual dexterity for performing medical procedures and operating equipment.
- Clear and effective communication with patients and team members.
- Indoor clinical environment with a well-maintained and clean facility.
- Exposure to various medical equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Interaction with patients, healthcare providers, and support staff in a professional and collaborative setting.
- Adherence to infection control and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Compliance with established work schedules, which may include evenings and weekends.
