SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the Service Technician II repairs, services, and builds standard and custom systems for electrical, control, and industrial systems. The Service Technician II may provide guidance to less experienced Service Technicians.

JOB DUTIES
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in electrical installations and repairs (24V - 480V)
  • Performs maintenance on assigned customer products that come through the service group.
  • Ability to terminate wires and run cabling.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, P&IDs and construction drawings.
  • Conduct Site Surveys
  • Completes installation, test, start-up commissioning and troubleshooting of industrial automation control panels including PLC programs,Drives and instruments.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting of VFDs, servo drives, and motor controls
  • Upgrading equipment including applicable software, hardware, and network equipment
  • Supports projects with the onsite work
  • Perform testing and integration activities as part of a team
  • Supervise electrical subcontractors
  • Self-motivated and organized with the ability to manage multiple situations on demand
  • Diagnoses system components and recommends a solution to the customer.
  • Prepares and completes job forms.
  • Assist customers by answering specific technical questions to help the customer understand the work to be done.
  • Responds to customer inquires. Due to experience & training, may handle more challenging inquires.
  • Builds customer relationships to drive repeat business by relating to the customer and drive process improvements.
  • Assists less experienced Service Technicians with addressing customer needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Typically requires a high school diploma or GED
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of shop experience or an equivalent combination.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
  • Ability to read Electrical schematics.
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability to operate shop equipment safely.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment with minimal supervision.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Push/pull up to 100 pounds
  • Lift/carry up to 100 pounds
  • Lift bulky objects
  • Neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, reach and lift, ladder climb and carry, crawling.
  • Working conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends.


LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

Valid Driver's License.
