The role coordinates structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and BIM/VDC teams; manages drawing submissions to Professional Engineers (PEs) and state regulatory agencies; participates in Project Manager meetings; and supports procurement, fabrication, quality control, and installation activities.

Essential Functions:

Engineering Leadership & Project Coordination
  • Lead and coordinate engineering activities for modular buildings, modular data centers, MCC/control buildings, electrical rooms, and other mission-critical facilities.
  • Coordinate structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and BIM/VDC design teams to align work with project milestones.
  • Assign engineering tasks, establish priorities, monitor progress, and conduct internal engineering kickoff meetings.
  • Coordinate with the Engineering Manager regarding resources, technical issues, priorities, and project risks.
Drawing Management, PE Review & State Submissions
  • Coordinate preparation, review, and submission of engineering drawings and supporting documentation to licensed Professional Engineers (PEs) for review, approval, and sealing, as required.
  • Manage drawing packages and supporting documents for state modular building approvals and regulatory submissions.
  • Coordinate state-specific requirements, including structural design criteria, wind and snow loads, live loads, seismic criteria, electrical service information, energy compliance, and other applicable documentation.
  • Track PE reviews, comments, corrections, resubmissions, approvals, and outstanding documentation.
  • Coordinate responses to PE and state reviewer comments with the appropriate engineering disciplines.
  • Maintain submission logs, approval records, revision histories, and regulatory documentation.
  • Coordinate with third-party agencies, inspection organizations, and certification bodies when required.
Engineering Design & BIM/VDC Coordination
  • Coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design for modular buildings and data center facilities.
  • Oversee Revit models, engineering drawings, equipment layouts, and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Identify design conflicts, model clashes, constructability issues, equipment clearances, and installation constraints.
  • Coordinate equipment layouts, HVAC systems, piping, cable trays, switchboards, PDUs, CDUs, MCCs, and associated infrastructure, as applicable.
  • Manage IFA, IFR, and IFC deliverables according to project requirements and ensure revisions reflect approved design decisions.
Project Manager Meetings & Schedule Management
  • Participate in regular Project Manager meetings to review engineering progress, deliverables, milestones, and outstanding issues.
  • Provide status updates, identify schedule risks, and communicate recovery plans.
  • Coordinate engineering schedules with procurement, material lead times, fabrication, production, and delivery milestones.
  • Track meeting action items and follow up with responsible team members.
  • Coordinate design reviews, client submissions, PE reviews, state approvals, and drawing release dates.
  • Communicate engineering-related impacts to project cost, schedule, and scope to the Project Manager and Engineering Manager.
Fabrication, Procurement & Manufacturing Support
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables with structural steel fabrication, electrical assembly, mechanical installation, and manufacturing teams.
  • Review fabrication drawings, equipment arrangements, bills of materials (BOMs), and installation details for completeness and coordination.
  • Support procurement by identifying long-lead materials, equipment requirements, and design-related purchasing constraints.
  • Respond to RFIs and technical questions from fabrication, procurement, quality, and construction teams.
  • Coordinate design freeze milestones and control released drawings to help prevent rework and schedule delays.
Scope, Change Management & Quality Control
  • Identify design changes affecting approved scope, project cost, schedule, materials, or fabrication.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager and Engineering Manager before implementing significant changes outside the approved design scope.
  • Verify that required client approvals and change orders are obtained in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate revision control and support design reviews, quality inspections, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and project closeout as applicable.
Codes, Compliance & Technical Documentation
  • Coordinate compliance with applicable building codes, electrical and mechanical standards, client specifications, and state modular construction requirements.
  • Track required calculations, drawings, certificates, equipment ratings, energy compliance documents, and supporting records.
  • Coordinate with licensed engineers and regulatory authorities to address technical comments and approval requirements.
  • Ensure engineering packages are complete and ready for submission before established deadlines; escalate unresolved technical issues to the appropriate engineering authority.
Communication & Reporting
  • Serve as the engineering coordination point of contact for assigned projects.
  • Communicate with Project Managers, designers, engineers, BIM/VDC personnel, procurement, fabrication, and external consultants.
  • Prepare weekly status reports covering progress, upcoming deliverables, submission status, risks, and outstanding action items.
  • Maintain project records, drawing registers, submission logs, review comments, and approval documentation.
