2nd Shift Janitorial Supervisor

The position of the Janitorial Supervisor is a key role in keeping all of Harrisburg University spaces clean, sanitized, and looking presentable for all our employees, students, and visitors.

Hours would be Monday – Friday 2:00PM-10:00PM.

Summary of Position:

The Janitorial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the janitorial teams’ daily duties. Filling in when short of staff or when there are large events in areas that will need more attention.

Essential Duties:

The essential duties of the Janitorial Supervisor include but are not limited to:

1. Overseeing the daily duties of the janitorial team. Making sure that all janitors are completing their daily checks of their specific floors/areas. Having the ability to understand/comprehend how each type of area needs to be cleaned.
2. Evaluating the daily duties of the janitorial team. Checking that all areas that are marked clean on a janitor’s daily check list are done to a satisfactory level.
3. Able to make effective corrections to improper use of working time.
4. Training new hires on the correct way to clean Harrisburg University spaces.
5. Take inventory of supplies and work with facilities on ordering.
6. Reports all repairs needed to facilities.
7. Assign janitorial duties or make shifts in schedule when short of staff.
8. Resolve conflicts within the janitors in an effective manner.
9. Able to perform all janitor duties in the case of a shortage of staff.
10. Provide up to date training to keep all janitors sharp on all cleaning duties.
11. Operate all janitorial equipment. i.e. vacuums, carpet extractor, hard surface machine, upholstery machine.

Required Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Valid driver’s license.
3. 2 years of supervisory experience.
4. Basic knowledge of cleaning and sanitation.
5. Basic computer skills. (Microsoft and Outlook).
6. Effective communication skills.
7. Effective organizational skills.
8. Basic mathematical skills.
