Position Summary:
The Nursing and Patient Education Coordinator is a supervisory position responsible for overseeing core nursing education programs, including nursing onboarding, clinical orientation, student programs, preceptor training ,patient and family education, education auditing, patient discharge planning oversight and education. This position will lead the Nursing and Patient Education Department, ensuring its operational effectiveness and alignment with the nursing department and organizational goals. Reporting directly to the CNO, the Nursing and Patient Education Coordinator promotes excellence in nursing education and fosters a culture of professional collaboration, development and evidence-based practice.
Position Requirements:
- Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Current Colorado RN license and current BLS for the Health Care Provider certification required. ACLS required. Magnet recognized; relevant specialty certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Education: Graduate of a nursing program from an accredited college or university required. A Graduate of a CCNE or NLNAC accredited school of nursing preferred; Bachelor of Science in nursing degree required. A Master's Degree in Nursing or relevant field is required within 3 years of accepting this position.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience with at least two (2) years in a leadership or educational role Required. Experience in program development, adult learning principles and practices, and clinical education are strongly preferred.

Will possess the ability to demonstrate expertise in measuring results or data and assessing learning outcomes for Craig Hospital. Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office applications is required to efficiently manage patient information and perform administrative tasks. Additionally, the candidate must exhibit a proven track record of leading interdisciplinary collaboration and fostering team development, promoting a cohesive and high-performing healthcare workforce.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee the operations of the Nursing and Patient Education Department, ensuring alignment with organizational and department goals.
- Supervise and support nursing educators, patient educators, guest speakers, preceptors, nursing student coordination and unit-based educators/CPS in both inpatient and outpatient nursing departments.
- Serve as a role model for professional practice and leadership behaviors.
- Provide oversight for the successful integration of new hires into the nursing department in partnership with other Nursing Leadership.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive onboarding and orientation programs for all nursing staff.
- Coordinate and manage student nursing programs in collaboration with academic partners.
- Lead the development of patient and family education materials, ensuring content is evidence-based, culturally appropriate, and aligns with organizational standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide education that enhances and maximizes patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Collaborate with all nursing leadership to act as a resource for resolving EHR-related challenges and promoting system optimization.
- Ensure EHR educational initiatives in alignment with system updates and evolving technology.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards related to nursing education and practice.
- Utilize data and feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate ongoing education and competency development for nursing staff, including mandatory training and continuing education opportunities while demonstrating the flexibility to adapt or change learning strategies based on outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with the Training and Development department.
- Mentor and coach educators and staff to achieve professional goals and enhance departmental performance.
- Serve as a liaison between nursing education, nursing leadership, and other departments.
- Foster collaborative relationships with academic institutions, professional organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and manage the Nursing Education Department’s budget.
- Maintain accurate records of educational activities, compliance audits, and staff performance evaluations.
- Participate in strategic planning and contribute to hospital-wide initiatives.

Base Salary: $47.13/ Hour - $67.87/ Hour
