About This Position

Job Summary:

Under the immediate guidance of the Backgrounds/Licensing Supervisor and Director, the Backgrounds Investigator is responsible for processing and maintaining employee licensing files. Obtain and verify all necessary information and documentation relating to the personal history of all applicants in order to determine suitability to hold and maintain a gaming license or work permit in accordance with all Tribal, Federal and State ordinances and regulations. Provide excellent customer service at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with fostering an environment of productivity and TEAM oriented results.
  • Process license applications and be able to make recommendations on their suitability to hold a license and communicate directly with Backgrounds/Licensing Supervisor and/orDirector regarding decisions of a license in a timely and professional manner as regulations dictate.
  • Conduct face to face interviews with applicants in order to obtain and verify all information provided on licensing applications.
  • Process fingerprints via Live Scan.
  • Use employee licensing database to input and update information.
  • Analyze information gathered and prepare detailed summary reports and recommendations on applicants.
  • Produce investigative summary reports for all files for submission to the National Indian Gaming Commission.
  • Ensure confidentiality regarding all licensing information of all applicants.
  • Request any and all supporting documentation and follow up from applicants.
  • Assist in the processing of Casino employee renewals, transfers and updates as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and pass a background clearance and maintain a Key License from the JTGC.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and meet deadlines when prescribed.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally.
  • Detail oriented and excellent time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and office equipment.
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups of people and maintain a polite, professional attitude at all times.
  • Maintain positive attitude at all times while delivering excellent customer service.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to attend offsite trainings and workshops when necessary.
  • Travel when necessary to accomplish department goals.
  • Flexibility to work outside the traditional hours of business, including weekends and holidays. (The casino and gaming commission are 24 hour, 7 day a week businesses.)
  • Must be 21 years of age.

Education/Experience:

  • A.A. Degree or two (2) years of regulatory experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted for required qualifications.
