About This Position

Job Overview:

To assist in coordinating the daily activities of the Pulmonary Function and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs. To coordinate shift reports and work assignments. Act as preceptor to new employees, participate in educational and process improvement programs for Pulmonary Function/Rehab. Performs and documents therapeutic and diagnostic modalities. May assume the responsibilities for the management of the Respiratory Care Service in the absence of the Manager and Supervisor.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Associates of Applied Science
  • Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Program, RRT or CRT
  • AACVPR, CPFT

Preferred:

  • ACLS
  • Bachelors of Science

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist by NBRC
  • Licensed by New Jersey State Board of Respiratory Care
  • BLS Certification Required (American Heart Association)

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, 8:30am - 5:00pm
  • Monday - Friday
  • Full-Time

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure all pulmonary/rehab equipment is in good working order
  • Provides educational support to staff and community
  • Establishes approved policies and procedures for the pulmonary function/rehab programs
  • Shares information and solicits feedback to create a sense of belonging among fellow staff members
  • Practices focused listening to gather relevant data/information to settle disputes
  • Ensures disputes are handled in a fair and equitable manner
  • Effectively addresses conflict in a timely, honest and straightforward manner
  • Finds common ground with peers, coworkers, and customers to resolve conflicts
  • Accurately determines length, difficulty, and availability of resources needed to accommodate daily PFT/Rehab schedules,
  • Models service recovery techniques to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Effectively interacts with physicians, nurses and other ancillary staff
  • Administers therapy as per physician orders and documents patient assessment, therapy given, procedure performed, medications administered, patient tolerance/adverse reactions and effectiveness of treatment and exercises
  • Responds to all codes when needed and maintains current CPR card
  • Performs therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory/pulmonary modalities
  • Expresses a thorough understanding of exercise and monitoring equipment and their physiological application
  • Assists fellow staff with workload when needed
  • Acts as preceptor to new employees
  • Demonstrates sensitivity for respect of age, gender, and cultural differences
  • Understands the function and monitors all pulmonary function/rehab equipment for appropriateness of care
  • Documents all pertinent information in the medical record in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned
