About This Position
Job Summary:
The ED Unit Secretary performs under the direct supervision of the Patient Care Coordinator and Director of Emergency Services. The Unit Secretary is responsible for maintaining an organized work area, ordering of and managing supplies, timekeeping, and computer skills necessary to perform the job duties. They will utilize the knowledge and skills appropriate to communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
Performance Expectations:
- Utilizes the ability to correctly place telemetry monitor leads on patients.
- Utilizes the ability to obtain vital signs
- Utilizes the ability to tolerate the physically demanding tasks of moving equipment and patients while executing safety measures for both oneself and/or the patient.
- Utilizes the ability to use proper phone etiquette.
- Utilizes the ability to provide 1:1 monitoring for suicide precaution, restraint use, de-escalation and peaceful interventions.
- Utilizes the ability to clean rooms between patients discharged.
- Utilizes the ability to perform discharge phone calls and document in call log.
- Utilizes the ability to perform charge capture and charge audit for departmental supplies.
- Utilizes the ability to order supplies in Lawson
- Utilizes the ability to correctly schedule and process time in Kronos
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
High school diploma or equivalent required. Computer literacy required. Must complete education/training on rhythm strip interpretation, suicide precautions, 1:1 monitoring, restraint use, and de-escalation and peaceful interventions during orientation and annually.
Work Experience:
Preferred but not required.
