Job Description: Anesthesiologist

Position Summary

The Anesthesiologist provides anesthesia care to patients undergoing surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures. This role includes pre-anesthesia evaluation, anesthesia administration, intraoperative monitoring, postoperative care, and collaboration with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Essential Functions

    Perform comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations, including review of medical history, diagnostic data, and risk assessment. Develop individualized anesthesia care plans for patients across all age groups and clinical conditions. Administer general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC) using appropriate techniques and medications. Monitor patients’ vital signs and physiological parameters during procedures and respond to changes in condition. Manage airways, including endotracheal intubation and advanced airway techniques. Provide pain management services, including postoperative analgesia and acute/chronic pain consultations as needed. Oversee and collaborate with CRNAs, anesthesiology residents, and other team members as applicable. Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory standards. Document all aspects of anesthesia care in the electronic medical record accurately and promptly. Participate in emergency response and resuscitation efforts (e.g., code blue, trauma response). Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding anesthesia care, risks, and postoperative expectations.
Licensure & Experience Requirements

    Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution. Completion of an ACGME-accredited anesthesiology residency program. Board certification or board eligibility in Anesthesiology (ABA or AOA). Current, unrestricted state medical license (or eligibility for licensure in the state of employment). Current DEA license and controlled substance certification as required by state regulations. BLS and ACLS certification (PALS may be required depending on patient population). Prior clinical experience in anesthesia care strongly preferred; new graduates may be considered depending on setting.
Preferred Qualifications

    Fellowship training in subspecialties such as: Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Pediatric Anesthesiology Obstetric Anesthesia Critical Care Medicine Pain Medicine
Experience in high-acuity or tertiary care environments. Demonstrated leadership ability and experience supervising residents or CRNAs. Proficiency with ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia techniques. Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Strong professional references illustrating clinical excellence, teamwork, and communication skills. Physical Requirements

    Ability to stand, sit, or maintain awkward positions for prolonged periods during surgical procedures. Manual dexterity and fine motor skills required for airway management, line placement, and equipment manipulation. Ability to lift, push, or move patients and equipment (typically up to 25–50 lbs). Visual acuity to read monitors, recognize changes in patient status, and perform procedures safely. Ability to respond quickly and physically in emergency situations.
Mental and Cognitive Requirements

    High level of concentration and vigilance for extended periods. Ability to make rapid, accurate clinical decisions under pressure. Strong problem-solving skills and clinical judgment. Capacity to multitask and manage multiple patients or responsibilities simultaneously. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with surgical teams and counseling patients/families. Ability to adapt to rapidly changing clinical circumstances. Strong documentation and organizational abilities.

Compensation: $450,000 - $550,000 per year, DOE
